I have a Corsair H80 that I installed in a new build last summer. Works great except the stock Corsair fans are noisy (too noisy for my use as I use this PC for my recording studio). Corsair support acknowledged the loud fans and that many users were installing aftermarket "quiet" fans, which I did and now it is useable.

I would say every cooler is like this
I went and got some high powered fans better CFM and everything vs what they give you in the box
had a situation where the fans simply had me almost overheating changed my fans to Mugen sythe no problems since and my temps stay low you can use there fans but sorry to say you will be disapointed some nois DB levels get yourself some fast but quiet aftermarket fans

you can get a Antec620 Khuler for more then half the price of a 100i Corsair and add more powerfull fans it is pretty much the same thing you will be saving almost 70 bucks

No, you don't have to buy the cooler AND buy replacement fans for it. Some people find the fans that come with the unit to be either too loud, or lacking in another way, and replace them with better fans. You don't have to do that as the fans that come with it will work just fine, but they are loud when spooled up.

My system was built primarily for my Recording Studio and thus needed to be "quiet". I also have a "quiet" modular power supply, too. The case fans in my Corsair Carbide 500R case are set for the lowest speed and I don't have any cooling issues. My CPU "idles" around 29C for the four cores and rarely gets about 40C.

KK,

If you want you could purchase 2 120mm fans for the Corsair H100 for a push/pull configuration .

The Corsair has a three speed fan switch on the CPU heat sink. I'm running mine on the lowest speed and still running cool. I'm not overclocking but I would suspect if I did the CPU cooler could still handle it at higher fan speeds.

I would go with the stock Corsair fans to start with, and if it is too noisy for you then consider swapping them out for quiet fans. For some, the fan noise is not an issue.

Does the H80i have these three settings? I am not in front of my PC right now, but I just built my new tower this weekend, and the fans stay at full blast. I don't recall seeing any switches to control fan speed on the unit itself, though.

I think this would be more of the Premium water coolers because the one i have only does it with the higher end model the Antec Khuler 920 might want to look into that

There is not a rotary switch for the fan speed control. There are three areas on the top of the heatsink assembly that you can push and select which of the speeds you want.

It's a button on the H80. I don't think the H80i has it. Only the base H80.
