Is it possible to save a file on a DVD(like the windows folder) before reformatting, and reinstalling it from that? Isn't there an image file somewhere in there? I have daemon tools, is this possible? I have no Internet access. But y computer is useless right now almost no programs work. I need to do something.

It's too late for ANY imaging or backup to assist you, once the machine is failing - you need to make the images BEFORE the failure starts.

You cannot copy folders across installations and expect things to work - a lot of the detailed work in installation is in the Registry, and is created on-the-fly during the installation of any program by normal means.

You CAN back up data to external media (and *should* do so on a regular basis anyhow). This will obviously also include any downloaded installers for programs that you may have acquired that way, so you can reinstall from those.

Of course you can :)
What sort of installation do you have currently?
Is it a pre-installed one that came from a large manufacturer (which one?) or did you do it yourself? - or what?

Troubleshooting Win7

Back up your data, Run full Factory Recovery from its partition on HD, or using disks you made or can order from manufacturer's Tech Support if you bought the computer in a store.

If you installed Windows yourself or want a clean reinstall, follow these steps: Reinstalling Windows 7

Looking at the OP's other threads of the past couple of days, I think his situation is rather more comlex than can be dealt with by normal means :(

It's a Dumpster machine - without a working DVD, and the Ultimate install looks like an Upgrade. The motherboard is not the original one......
