Provided I obtained a legit copy of the RTM with a legit Technet subscription, would I be able to receive updates from Microsoft? The same ones that people who buy the copy in October get for their copies?

If I do get the RTM, is there any reason to install the consumer copy in October? Any reason at all? Or can I use the RTM forever?

Basically, are there ANY differences between the RTM and the public release? Any at all?

There shouldn't be any differences (for now).

Technet is identical to retail....yes you will get updates (as long as you turn updates on) and no need to buy a retail version in October....
You are evaluating the Technet one according to the EULA though...aren't you.....;)

Basically your iso is what is released to marketing/manufacturing, so when they press the dvd it will be identical. When the updates come out everyone will have to download them

Hope this helps

The only difference between the RTM and the public release is that you get a box and a manual. That's it! :D

Of course, of course.

I'll be getting the upgrade disc in October but I just want to get rid of Vista and can't wait for October. After using the RC I've gotten used to it. Well, I'm on to download off of technet.

:D
