I want to try this out
Do I have an admin account now?
I have no password set, win7 just boots up to the desktop.
Can I turn the current user, lr, into an admin? Does it have to have a password?
If It gets a password, then will it halt at the boot screen demanding a password?
Anyway to create an admin with no password?

How do you change the account that runs a service to an admin account?

WMC Recording Storage Pooler
Recording using a network drive
In order to work with a network drive (either a network path mapped as a drive, or a UNC path), you will need to change the WMC Recording Storage Pooler service to run under a user account with write permissions to the network share. You will also need to change the user for the WMC Receiver Service to set the proper permissions for WMC to record to the network drive.

Make sure you have an administrator account that exists on both your WMC PC and the network computer with the same user name and password on both computers. For a network with a domain, it will need to be domain account. If this account doesn’t exist, create it.
Change the account that runs the WMC Recording Storage Pooler service (WMCRecordingStoragePooler) to the administrator account.
Change the account that runs the Windows Media Center Receiver Service (ehRecvr) to the administrator account.

Only someone using an admin account can change the status of theirs or any other account. Any other behavior would be an enormous security risk. An admin account does not require a password but for security it should have. But auto starting a computer without login is itself a security risk. To use autostart you must specify the account and password for the account you wish to use. Otherwise the auto login will fail and a user name and passwrd will be required at startup.

These are only HTPC at the house so risks I suppose are small.

You think this would work with no passwords set? This pooler record to network drive?

My 'lr' account is apparently already an admin account, with no password set.

So when I install programs, and I am an administrator, do they run as administrator?
The instructions said to install the service as admin, so I guess I did?

So create an 'lr' admin user on the other WMC PC?

You can elevate your account to Administrator there on the same page you pictured. Then if you're concerned about someone making changes, password it and let them use a Standard account.
