Hi I was just wondering but when I back up my files, does it include my installed programs?

Sorry if its a dumb question, and thanks :)

No. Installed programs are different from files or even settings which you can back up, and should.

However it is a good idea to save the installers in your Downloads folder (or stored if DVD or CD) and back those up so you have them handy if you ever need to reinstall.

However, with Win7 Backup Imaging you never have to reinstall again if you keep an updated Backup Image stored externally so that the HDD or a replacement can be reimaged in 15 minutes if necessary.

For your personal files use:Back Up and Restore
Windows files System Restore
Entire C Drive System Image

I made a system image after I validated my OS, downloaded my programs and made sure I was happy with everything. Any minor changes that I make from now on, I just write down. If I ever have a problem, I just use System Image to replace everything. Make the changes that I wrote down and I am set to go. The only real nusicance are the Windows Updates.
