Solved Quick query

Have been getting a few hiccups on the main laptop ie the screen dropping out about three times during power up, So I decided to do a clean install on the spare SSD, Now it is going through right now but the only problem is on power up it gives me I/O input cannot be found push any key -or words to that effect which allows power up normally.
Not a great nuisance but all the same I would like to find out what this means,

Any ideas please.

You mean it's not finding an Operating System? Or the laptop won't turn on?

No it powers on but goes to a black screen with that message I/O cannot be found replace the disk and hit any key or something like that - it then fires up to Windows and my login.

I shall test again in a minute when the security is fully loaded and maybe if my camrra can get a shotI'll send it as a snip.

Just have so many things to put back on right now. What I intend to do is get it set up and then clone it back to the larger SSD (500GB) which is wonky.

It sounds like it's trying to boot from a disconnected device first, before booting from the SSD. Check the device order in the BIOS. Is the DVD/CD still connected?

No the ISO is out now and the drive is in a different bay (two bays in this machine with different fitting drive holders) so the new drive is back where it was in relation to where the old C: drive used to be in because the holders for the drives are different they do not swap around. Maybe I had better try fixing the holders to accommodate the new install to go into that side the other drive used to be in??

The message is " Disk I/O error - replace the disk and then hit any key"

Check the device boot order in the BIOS.

Ok will try that Colin as changing the bay did not make any difference

Should have looked in the BIOS a long time ago I did think about it but thought couldn't be that cos O haven't touched it. But there low and behold was a USB stick as boot device one of those real slim ones I hadn't noticed out it came and well you know the rest.

Yep mate I bought it cos it was so small and it isn't much bigger than one of those wifi dongles for mice and stuck right up at the back of the machine as that is where the left had side ports are
