quick question about start menu

I just installed Windows 7 64-bit Enterprise on my laptop and I am just setting it up to my liking. I am deleting some of the things off the start menu (i.e. help, pictures, music) and it keeps shrinking the start menu. Is there a way that I can get the start menu to stay the same size (the regular size it was) while still not having those links?

You could adjust this value to acquire the height you want.

It's not letting me select that. It has a 0 in both of those spots and are gray (unclickable).. Is there a way that I may have something that has disabled this?
