I had RC Ultimate RC 32 bit installed .... I did a clean install using the RTM (DVD).
I backed up a lot of my files and folders to a CD, so I wouldn't have to spend too much time downloading them again.

Make a backup of all your important files, and do a clean install.
P.S Make a list of all the programs you have installed, so you can download them later if you dont have the installer on your computer.

You can't upgrade from XP to Windows 7. You will still need to do a 'Custom' install. See the video:
