Quick SSD query

Have a Samsung 830 series in at the moment and wan to get another SSD for a back up device / putting in my backup desktop 2.
Have just seen the benchmark for the Patriot Torqx 2 128GB and then ran a benchmark on my Samsung and they look very different but I don't fully understand the readouts.

Now I am only considering the Patriot on price - $70 less than Sammy so I am guessing ahead that one gets what one pays for??

But I would appreciate the opinion of the folks who really know what hese benchmarks are telling me.

Sorry I meant to put in re the Sandisk Extreme too which is also the same price as the Patriot.

Why in the world would you want to put an SSD drive into a second desktop for backups? Unless you are connected with a 10 gigabit network, you aren't going to even be able to come close to the speed of an SSD.

A 1 gigabit connection after overhead is going to provide about 85-100 megabytes/sec max throughput. Most green mechanical spinning hard drives run faster than this.

No PP you have unfortunately misread / misinterpreted what I typed my friend I meant keep it as a back up in (in the drawer - unused) in case the Samsung 830 in Desktop 2 or the M4 Crucial in Desktop 3 poos itself.

The other alternative I had in mind was put it in Desktop 1 which is my failsafe machine as the boot device to make it quicker to boot for when D2 and D3 both croak it simultaneously. I do have three XP machines that I use only in absolute emergencies - DEFCON X - yes call me mad but you see I am - quite bonkers in fact :busted:

So what do you think of the Sandisk??
