Quick time don´t open...neither WMP--HELP

Hello,
I've just bougth a new HP z 600 workstation for my audio recordings, but i'm having big issues with my software. Windows media player is not working properly. It is enable to start videos - it crack and i get this message saying WMP stoped working. If i play audio i can listen for some seconds and after a while it cracks too and i get the same message. Because WMP 12 comes with windows 7 i can't install it - i have disable and inable it in windwos features already, but nothing changes, so i don't know what to do. I'm having basicaly the same problem with other audio and video programs (quick time, i tunes, etc... ) I don't know what's wrong. Could it be something to do with the fact that i have a 64 bit system? but i have installed i tunes and quick time for 64 bit... what´s wrong?
Please help

I´ve found out the by default windows media player in the 64 bit versions of widowns 7 runs the 32 bit instalation, but it is instaled in both program files 86x and in program files folder. So i have changed the settings in windows properties and now i´m running the 64 bit version of windows media player and it seems to work fine. But i still have problem with the other audio and video programs that try to launch from the 32 bit folder. even if i install the 64 bit version of quick time for example i cant make it run...what´s wrong!? Anyone can help please?

Can you be specific about the particular videos you're trying to play? What types? What codecs (audio and video) are used in them? AVI? MPG? MOV? What? And what audio/video codecs inside of the AVI and MPG files?

Win7 and Windows Media Player are very capable of natively playing an extremely large assortment of files... including Quicktime MOV files. Unlike with WinXP, with Win7 no additional outside players or codecs are required for a huge number of videos. So there's no reason to install Quicktime in Win7 to play Quicktime movies, unless you have a specific need for something that the Quicktime player does.

Anyway, can you provide some more details about the problem videos?

i´m running the 64 bit version of windows media player
even if i install the 64 bit version of quick time

there is NO 64bit version of Quicktime. The 64bit version of iTunes still installs 32bit quicktime.

Since you have decided to use the 64bit WMP, it will never load anything quicktime related.

Ok,
First of all i have to say that i'm gled that i'm getting answers here. I tried other windows 7 forums and nothing.
So first i'll answer you shark:
Yes, it's true that there's no 32 bit version of quick time - my mistake. I was trying o say that i have install the iTunes for 64bit that includes quicktime 7. The problem is that i can't simply make quick time run. I double click the icons in my desktop ad nothing happens. In the task manager nothing changes. Not even the processes. so the program simply don't run in my system and i don't know why. I tried to unistall and install it back again but nothing changes.
About WMP i have to say the i'm using the 64 bit version to run videos because i get an error message everytime i try to run any king of video (even the sample videos from windows). I get a message saying "Windows Media Player Stopped working..."

I think that this answer to your question too dsperber. This happens with any type of file.

Something similar is happenning with Internet Explorer. If i use the 64 bit version it runs with no problem, but if i try to use the 32 bit native version it cracks and i get the message "Internet Explorer Stopped working...windows is checking for a solution...." And i simply can't go on.
So something is wrong in my system...seems like it has some problem to run 32 bit programs...specially the audio and video ones...

Can anyone help me to figure out wht's going on here?
Thanks.

I just installed the latest version of 64bit itunes and it does not install Quicktime.
older versions did install it.

As for your broken 32bit stuff - I have no idea.
Have you considered starting a clean install of Windows?
If you do clean install Windows, maybe you should also go for a 32bit OS.
