Raid 0

So I have a 1.5 TB and a 1 TB HD both just converted to GPT. When I create my RAID 0 it says maximum size 2 TB. Am I doing someting wrong here? Any help would be appreciated.

No, you're not doing anything wrong. The maximum RAID size will be the size of the smaller drive doubled. So by using the 1.5TB drive in the array, you're going to lose out, as you've already seen, on using 500GB of space.

Another example: You have a 1TB drive and a 320GB drive you want to RAID 0, you will have an array in the size of 640GB.

Really, there's no point in using a RAID 0 configuration since if one drive goes bad, all of your data is gone. When using most forms of RAID, it's better to have drives of the same capacity.

If the RAID array is GPT (as stated by revolvrocelot), it's probably not a system drive, unless the motherboard has EFI rather than a traditional BIOS. (EFI is rare, outside of Intel Macs.)
