Raid 1 Query

Hi All

I've recently set up a software raid 1 and have a couple of questions on this (i've had a good look on google and couldn't find any definitive answers).

With Raid 1, as one drive mirrors the other, should they both have the same drive letter?

Windows seems to have assignned them both G, which I want to change to F (for network mapping reasons). Does anyone know if this can cause issues?

Should windows explorer show both drives, or will it only ever show 1?

With a RAID 1 mirror, the hardware should concatenate the two drives together and only show you 1 disk drive and drive letter. Changing the drive letter within Windows should be just fine. Windows Explorer is only going to show 1 drive.

When you boot you should see 2 rectangular white bars flashing on the upper left of the screen. Those are your hard drives (with 1 letter). Mine says; raid functioning, also.
