Raid requires more than one disk. RAID is a collection of disks that provide data redundancy in case one the disks fails. AHCI is a SATA disk contoller interface that provides an advanced (compared to IDE) disk protocol. AHCI is a protocol that is used at the disk level. RAID is a protocol for redundancy across multiple disks drives.

RAID normally means two HD's married into a single partition, however on some motherboards it is also a generic term for the SATA mode.

It doesn't really matter because with Win7 you should first try install in AHCI mode, then if it fails use the default RAID mode. Are you sure there isn't another IDE mode?

thx for the answer i dont know about the ide thing but when i enter the bios, sata controller are 3 options ide, raid and ahci

Try install first in AHCI mode. If it fails then try in IDE mode.

Post back if you have any problems and we will troubleshoot the install with you.

Everything is good in ahci mode, I just wanted to know what the difference are, no problems.
