Solved RAM and AMD vs Intel

Note the speed of the RAM in each of these pictures. While the AMD is at 3.14 GHz and the Intel is 2.2GHz, the RAM speed is much higher with Intel. Yes, I know the AMD has 1600 and the Intel is 2133, but this is a huge difference. The true RAM frequencies are 800 and 1066 respectively, only 266MHz difference.
RAM in the Intel rig is 13,264MBs faster. I'm guessing it is a better memory controller in the Intel CPU.

Am i missing something?
The intel would be better as it has twice the amount of memory aswell as it being faster memory. Plus the Intel chip is newer than the AMD one.
If you were comparing the same ram in both systems then wouldn't that prove your point better?

Intel has a much better memory controller. Intel has always produced better numbers than AMD systems for ram. I am only assuming it is the memory controller, could be something with the boards too, I guess. I don't think the amount of ram has anything to do with the speed of the ram. Open an elevated command prompt and run winsat mem.

Ryan, Steve, I was posting just to show how RAM runs so much faster on an Intel board. Explains why our Intel rigs go lickety-split. I suspect its all tied together, CPU and chipset. Maybe later I'll slap the 1600 in the Intel machine to see how it compares, That would make sense. I drop the darn thumbscrew that hold the sides on though.

I know some Asus motherboards read the memory banks differently and that adds some performance, something like 200MHz. Memory controller and motherboard will have a lot to do with memory performance.

I just thought comparing the same would have been more apropriate

OK, you all got me curious about how the RAM would run if I swapped the RAM between machines, so here is the result. Both sets are GSkill Sniper, the one from the AMD is 1866 1.5V, the Intel's RAM is 2133 1.65V.
The RAM speeds, according to memtest was unchanged even though for the switch I ran both sets at 1600 even tightening timings for the AMD rig.
Apparently the RAM frequency has little or no effect on how fast it runs in the machine. It does show a large difference with winsat mem though.
The AMD system ran about 15,100 both times but the Intel dropped from 28,500 to 22,100 with the 1866 RAM.

Here are the memtest pics, the top ones are after the switch, the lowers are the same as in the OP.

Yes, you're right. But in my defence, he changed his avatar. What I have found strange is my Maximus board. I really haven't tried overclocking it, but I can put almost any speed or timings in and it runs fine, and passes memtest. So far, everything I have put in just runs fine. It's mostly been underclocking, but I have lowered the timings considerably and it runs no matter what I put in. I have had Intel boards before that would never do that. Maybe I'll play with it a little more when I put it back together.

They're good boards aren't they. I know a couple of peeps that have them and are well happy with them.

I'll show you mine whenever I put the machine back together. But, if it will help, this is winsat with 2133 on the same Z68 board you have running a 3570K.

Thanks for your input guys! That is odd on your memtest timing reading Ryan. Steve suggested that maybe memtest is not setup to read the newest CPU and RAM correctly. I don't think it's been updated for 2-3 years.
