I have an AMD Athlon II x4 635 Quad-Core, and 4GB DDR3 already installed. I was wondering would a Corsair Vengeance 4GB DDR3 2x2GB 1600Mhz be combatible with the CPU and Motherboard?

If it is a AM2or AM2+ Socket going into a AM3+ Board he would be able to use the 1600mhz ram But ......Depends if that socket is even compadible with the socket im talking about other then that you can buy the ram it will just be downclocked to 1333mhz only OC will let you boost higher

AMD limited that speed to AM2 boards even the Phenom BE 965 Is supposed to be held to 1333mhz depends on the board but most AM3+ board will let you go beyond specs

Anyway I just looked up your chip it is AM3 so you get a AM3+ board and you're in business

I have an Acer Aspire AM3400-E2212, with an AMD 880G chipset. Would that still work?

YES yes and YES !

This is your system specs you are good to go I would go all corsair no mix and match just all new sticks Only thing ram will be Downclocked to 1333Mhz you could jus get the max ram x2 4gb sticks that are already 1333mhz i see no reason to get 1600mhz unless you plan on getting a new board for a future upgrade which would make more sense in the long run
