i have just finished a remote assist with Microsoft to try to resolve a problem i am having with my win 7 os. It appears from my trolling the forums that it is not an uncommon scenario. As i use my machine i see the memory monitor gadget showing more and more usaage of ram until finally i get a "not enough resources to run application" prompt. The guy from microsoft cleared my cookies, my prefetch files, google toolbar etc without effect. He suggested that some of my optimising utilities could be the problem until i explained that i had installed the to try to CURE the problem. He finally cleared off without saying anymore and i was left a link if i wanted to resume the chat support. This link didn't work. Any comments would be great.

what does it say in event viewer?
type event viewer in search. goto windows logs>applications. Check for errors (red "X" in left column) that relate to app hang, app crash, etc. when you find the frequent note the event ID and source sodr and let us know what they are

With all the reading you say you have done on this problem then you shoud have already come accross the fact that NOD32 and other Antivirus programs are the cause of the Memory leak you are seeing. In fact NOD32 is already famous for this. Get rid of NOD32,...problem solved.

This problem with NOD32 eating up memory has already come up fifty times here.

Try a different antivirus. I'm using Avira AntiVir Premium with Windows 7 and have no problems with memory leaks. I hear Microsoft Security Essentials (FREE) is suppose to be pretty good, but I haven't tried it.

I'm using MSE and you don't even know it's running. Been using it since beta, then public release, now in the new beta program (ver 1.0.1743).

Yeah, many of the mainstream anti-virus apps are huge memory hogs. If you want something that you barely notice, but works well, take a look at the new Microsoft one, as other people have said. I've been using it since beta, and it's presented no problems, only solutions.
