Hi.
I need help with my RAM.
I am not sure if there's even a problem.. My brother pointed out that I had 1066Mhz on my RAM. He thought I had 1600Mhz. He believes that there's "some setting in BIOS that is wrong" - meaning I SHOULD have 1600Mhz, but only get 1066Mhz.
PS. I don't mean overclocking.

1. Is he right about the BIOS setting?

I have the following RAM (according to Everest):
3x Corsair XMS3 CM3X2G1600C9 | 2 GB DDR3-1333 DDR3 SDRAM (9-9-9-24 @ 666 MHz) (8-8-8-22 @ 592 MHz) (6-6-6-16 @ 444 MHz)
(I don't know what these numbers mean.)

2. Are these types of RAM supposed to have 1600Mhz?

3. (If yes on question 1 and 2) How can I change it so that I get 1600Mhz out of my RAM?

Thanks in advance. =)

The speed will be written on the RAM itself I believe that you do have 1600MHz RAM and it is running at 1333MHz which is correct. The link I posted above should make this clear, while at the same time explaining to you how to increase the speed, if that is what you want. Personally I doubt that you will notice a difference.

Sorry Phrosen This is quite confusing But I have misread some of what you have posted your RAM is running at 1600MHz I have now read several times through the link that I posted and what I am trying to say is to check in the BIOS for your RAM speed and manually enter 1600 MHz if it is not already shown
The problem is apparently caused by a limitation in the X58 MB's and like I have written before it does get explained in the link I posted

I'll try that.
What if my motherboard/BIOS is automatically controlling the RAM speeds?

When you start the PC the speed should be shown on the BIOS screens, it should also be displayed on the main BIOS page.
Your BIOS will be automatically controlling the speed but if it is wrong you can just change from Auto to 1600MHz leaving all the other settings on Auto so that you do not have to manually enter all the RAM details.
