I have a semi decent system, look below at my system, and i installed windows 7 hoping everything would be fine. I like to do a lot of gaming and a lot of things at once so i have 3 gigs of ram, 2gigs i bought together and 1 i had left over from a pair i got and 1 **** the bed.
so when i booted up 7 for the first time, i was installing drivers and such, and i Dxdiag 'd (start>run>dxdiag) to see if my system was reading everything well, but my memory only read 512MB! i was shocked im suppose to have 3gigs! so i googled it right away and saw my bios might be lacking, so i updated my bios and finished all my drivers and still nothing, still says i have 512mb!
pleeease help!

The first thing to try is removing the RAM other than the 2GB that you "bought together". Sounds like mismatched RAM isn't playing well together. (if you're up for it, you may be able to get it to play by manually setting the RAM voltages and timings in the BIOS settings.)

If you really wish to max out the RAM, I suggest buying a 4 GB (2 X 2GB) DDR2 kit. At least in the US, it can be had for less than $100 (www.newegg.com). If Gigabyte publishes an approved RAM list, it may be convenient (but not necessary) to use RAM from it.

well, i had Xp installed and for almost a year now i have been using this 3 gigs of ram so it has to be an issue since he came up when i installed windows 7... but. from what i have been doing so far. it doesn't seem like i have 512mb, it seems like i still have my 3gigs, cuz im not getting any sort of lag when i play cod4 and such. but do you think if i just bought brand new set of 4 gigs of ram it would work out fine?
