Hi guys please see the picture above. I got 8gb of ram but slot 1 shows i got 4gb and slot 2 shows nothing any idea why?
Secondly, Sony wrote that this model ram speed is 1333mhz but why it only shows 533mhz?(they scammed?)

What are the values of each stick of RAM you have and how many sticks? Example - 2 sticks of 4 gig for a total of 8 gigs. How many slots do you have on your mobo and are they color coded? Example - slot one is black and slot 2 is blue and if you have more than two slots then it repeats. So if you just have 2 sticks and 4 slots the RAM needs to be paired with the appropriate slots. Check you mobo spec sheet for that.

Is this the CPUZ snip from the laptop in your 'System Specs' ?
It says Acer and you mentioned Sony.

DDR2 RAM gives you twice the frequency, 533 X 2 = 1066 MHz
According to the snips your RAM is running at 1066 MHz.

It is strange that CPUZ isn't showing the SPD info for slot#2.

Memory tab is showing you what is in the computer.
SPD tab is just a list of the manufactor's published specs for that RAM, the timings at different speeds/frequencies.
The RAM can be ran at different speeds and timings than is listed in the SPD tab.

I would go with the info in the Memory tab.

Try another RAM info app like RAMMon by PassMark.
Post a snip from it, so we can see if it is different.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

External eSATA Seagate 500GB SATA2 7200rpm,

Is this a notebook or desktop.
If desktop then there should be 4 RAM slots.
Look at slot 3 for your other 4GBs

Even though RAM is rated at 1333 doesn't mean the motherboard will run it at that speed.
You should be able to FORCE it to run at 1333 by changing a BIOS setting. If there is a BIOS setting to allow it.

If it's a notebook then I have no idea as most all notebooks I have ever seen only have 2 slots.
Although since it is DUAL CHANNEL RAM, Slots 1 & 3 are dual and slots 2 & 4 are the other dual channels, so still look at slot 3.

Can you post the snip of the RAMMon main page, can't tell if the above info is complete.

It appears to be reading the same as CPUZ, 8GB.

Something is screwy.
In your first post with the CPU Z SS it says 8GBs RAM.
But then in slot 1 is 4GB.

Is there a slot 3 and 4 listed in CPU Z.

Clearly you have 8GBs as CPU Z sees it and 4GB per stick.

I followed the link you gave for you laptop and this is what it shows for memory.

MTS.PNG

It shows 1333 and you have 1066.

It looks like you have the wrong Memory installed.

Your laptop only has 2 slots. Maybe Sony put in a wrong memory module and they may not match. If this is a new unit I would call your vendor for a RMA and let them fix it.

Ya something is screwing this up. So the currently recognise ram is the default ram inside? They installed for me i did nothing to the ram. Can i know how much ram i have now? it shows 8gb but is it really 8gb?

You mean this pic? Erm yea 8gb but the weird part is why only got one module? and the ram speed 533mhz? sony faked advertised?

Strange, RAMMon shows the same thing as CPUZ.
Total 8GB, but showing one 4GB RAM card.

I don't know of any 8GB RAM cards, which leads me to think you have two 4GB cards, confirmed by the 4GB card info.

For some reason both the apps don't read info from the 2nd card but, the total 8GB RAM shows that it is there.

Check Resource Monitor and see how much RAM is listed there.
Best way to confirm this is to open the case and take a look at the RAM cards. Get any info that is on the cards, manufactorer, part number, etc. Then run a google search on the info.

Agree with Phone Man, get the vendor to fix it.

If the laptop came stock with a 1333MHz 4GB card and they added a different brand 1066MHz 4GB card, then it will run at 1066MHz, always at the lowest frequency.

This may be a cheap RAM card that doesn't have the SPD info stored on the card, which might explain the lack of info in the apps.

Let us know what you find.

Three times confirmed that you have 8GB RAM.

The question now is about the added 4GB RAM card, just for the likely 1066MHz second RAM card I would get them to replace it with the published 1333MHz spec RAM card.

Let us know what you find when you get home.

The module one(which suppose to be in the laptop before shipping) currently shows that it is 533mhz from rammon summary right?
I called Sony they told me even though it shows 1333mhz at the site doesn't mean the ram must run at that speed WTF?

The origional RAM card is likely is a 667MHz (1333MHz), the free upgrade is likely 533MHz (1066MHz), so they will both run at 533MHz.

Typical response from OEMs, it probably works on a large percentage of customers.

Be polite but persistant and they should fix it, though it may take a while.
Use things like: Not as advertised, one of the reasons I bought this laptop was the 1333MHz RAM, You didn't inform me that the free 4GB upgrade would slow my RAM to 1066MHz.
As a last resort, after several attemps, 'Can you please send me the RMA info for a full refund, as this laptop doesn't have the specs I paid for ?', if this doesn't work then you have to decide if you want to return it.

To be honest it's only a small reduction in RAM speed and hardly noticeable.
Although, personnally, I might return it because of the changed spec and the lack of customer service as it would be an easy fix for them to do.

Let us know how it works out.

Ok thanks for the utterly important support. But I scare them stress that they site only wrote 4gb ram is 1333mhz however doesn't mean that 8gb ram also. Will keep you update about the info. Going down to Sony to find out more about my ram

got a reply from sony:
"uur product marketing team has replied. By default, the pre-installed 4GB RAM uses one slot and comes with clock speed of 1333MHz. As there was an upgrade to 8GB RAM, two RAM modules of 4GB each have been installed on your current system. Thus, the configuration now is 4GB x 1 pc on board (1333MT/s) and with our free RAM upgrade 4GB x 1 pc (1066MT/s). The system would then reflect the RAM with lower speed which is 1066MHz (533 x 2). Nevertheless, we would like to assure you that this will not affect the performance of the VAIO. Hope this helps. :)"

Seems like i won't have any hope in changing ram. :(

Your resource monitor shows that you have all 8GB of RAM installed and working.

The frequency reduction won't be noticeable, it is strange that CPUZ and RAMMon can't see the card.

You might ask them if you can get a 1333MHz RAM card to replace the 1066MHz.

Right the reduction from 1333 to 10xx you'll never see the difference. Especially on a notebook with speed step slowing the CPU down to conserve power and reduce heat output.

But what bothers me is that CPU Z does not see the second RAM slot. Are you using the most current version of CPU Z?
