Solved Ram usage

I just wanna get something clear here,for example a game has the Recommended Ram 6 GB does it mean that the game will use 6GB or that you only should have 6GB installed ?

It means to run the game properly your system should have 6 gigs or more installed ram.

You can probaly run the game with less RAM, but then you risk paging activity which would result in a significant system slowdown.

So if the recommended system requirements for Ram were 8GB and i had 8 GB installed does that mean that i should upgrade my ram or i have exactly what the game needs ?because the system on idle already uses 1.70GB which leaves me with 6gigs (had to ask again cuz i did not really get u)

It depends of course what else you are running. If you only run the game, the specified RAM size suffices. But if you run additional programs that use a lot of RAM, it may get tight.

You can absolutely have more ram than required.
All it is telling you that is the minimum recommended amount of ram your system should have for the game to run as it was designed. You can have more with no problems. You could have less but the game will not run correctly.

The memory usage of a game or other application is highly variable. It will vary according to how much is available, what the application is doing, what other applications are doing, and much more. A game will run with substantially less than the specified minimum but performance will suffer, in some cases to the point where the game is unplayable.

When a game specifies 6 GB RAM that is just a rough guide as to how much RAM you should have as a minimum. The game designers are well aware that other things will be running in the computer and have taken this into consideration. Of course it is expected that you will use common sense and not be running other large applications while playing the game. If you do you must make allowances.

More RAM is always better. It is just that if you go too far you will be spending a lot of money for RAM that is providing little gain.
