Hi,

I have a problem with my new RAM.

Motherboard: ASUS M2N-E SLI
RAM: Kingston Hyper-X DDR2-800 KHX6400D2K2/4G

RAM is on the compatibility list of the motherboard.

If I install one stick, either of the two in any of the 4 slots, it works.
But, if I install the two sticks, in Dual-channel or not, it refuses to boot: No video signal (monitor stays on sleep), no hard drive reading (power on but not seeking) and all fans are working.

What could it be?

Thanks!

Hello Jetson, and welcome to Seven Forums.

You might see if resetting the BIOS/CMOS back to default settings may allow it to work properly afterwards. Double check that you also have the RAM sticks in the same colored slots for dual channel mode as well.

If you have a newer BIOS version available, you might check to see if that issue has been addressed by the new version and flash your BIOS to update it if so.

In addition, you might run Memtest+86 to see if it may find a issue with the RAM.

Hope this helps some,
Shawn

I tried the last Beta BIOS even if in the changelog there was anything about RAM and... now it works.

Sorry for the stupid question at first, I would have tried before.

Thanks!

P.S. I'm not new to this fabulous forum, just didn't have any account!

Yeah... But since I put the two, system is freezing all the time.

Memtest is on since 2 hours, 2 passes and still no errors.

If there's no error after few more passes, what could be the problem?

Thanks

EDIT: I think I found the problem: Sound Blaster Live Pack. It says it works for up to 2 Gb of Ram, more than than the system will crash randomly, which appears to occur!

I'll try with kXdriver and see if the crashes stop.
