Just got a new laptop about a month ago and ive been getting random BSOD quite frequently. At first it appeared I solved the problem by using driver verifier to find that a driver by daemon tools was causing the problem. But just recently they have started up again and I don't know whats the problem is.

I have run memtestx86 to test for bad ram but its come back fine.

My laptop is an Acer Aspier 5755G with an Intel Core i5 second gen processor and 4GB of DDR3 ram. Im running Windows Home Premium 64bit which was already installed on it at purchase.

Ive included the .zip file containing whats needed to analyze the BSOD mini dump files, as asked by that "How to post BSOD thread".

Thanks in advance for any help at all.

Hi -

There were 2 dump files in the attached zip file, but WERCON shows 24 BSODs -- that began within ~36 hours after the initial boot-up on 7 Aug -

Just curious, please - are there other dump files? c:\windows\minidump

The 2 dumps had no markings to indicate they were VERIFIER_ENABLED.

Bugcheck = 0x109 = kernel corruption. Something has modified kernel code. Only Windows Updates are permitted to do so. At least 5 other BSODs from early-mid August had 0x109 bugchecks as well.

Often its failing RAM or other underlying hardware problem affecting RAMs ability to properly hold kernel code. I see you did run memtest86+. On the software side - a rogue driver, but Driver Verifier should have picked that up by now.

You mentioned Daemon Tools causing earlier problems. Now I see Daemon is gone, but replaced by Elby. I would suggest ditching it for now and see if BSODs cease.

You can also try Driver Verifier again - let it run 36 hours minimum - http://www.sysnative.com/0x1/Driver_Verifier.htm

However, in all honesty, you have a 1 month old system that had problems from day one. I highly suggest that you return it and demand another in its place. If this does turn out to be hardware failure, you will be absolutely miserable and frustrated while dealing with customer service/ system support in the months to come.

It is of course is your call.

Thank you very much for that detailed reply, I appreciate the time you have taken to help me out.

Yes there were more mini dump files in c:\windows\minidump folder, however they are cleared ever so often when tuneup does system maintenance.

And yea I have had these BSODs since I got it suggesting theres some major problem with it to begin with. I think ill take your advice and return it to be replaced with another. I have a 2 year warranty on it so I have nothing to lose.

That's fine. Please remember to uninstall Elby 1st - and any other similar virtual devices.

Hey jcgriff2

I took my laptop in to where I purchased it today, hoping to exchange it for a new one. Unfortunately at this stage I cant do that. Under Acers rules I can only do that in the first 2 weeks of purchase.

Instead I was told to ring Acer customer support and see if they can help me, I was told to reset the computer to factory settings and see if it BSOD'd again. If it does im to ring back and take it from there.

By the looks of it im probably gonna have to send it away to them to be fixed, and if it cant be fixed it will be replaced with a new one.

Hassle :/

Sorry to hear they won't give you a new system.

I would suggest that when dealing with customer service that you send them a link to this thread. They can't deny the problems began immediately after 1st boot.
