Hi guys, I am a first timer at this forum, but I got nowhere else to ask.

So basically, I built myself a new PC from scratch, ordered all the parts and everything. There is no chance of damage from static as I used a band when I assembled it. I've had it for a couple of months now and I have been getting BSODs from day one. I though I had isolated it to an old version of Lucid Virtu and DeamonTools, but I am a still getting the problem.

I have ran thorough checks, CHKDSK /f , got myself a copy of TuneUp Utilities, benchmarked using a couple of Futuremark's benchmarks, also tried Heaven and I even borrowed a copy of SiSoft Sandra from a friend. Furthermore I went ahead and ran a memtest86+ for about 1 hour and 30 min . All the tests were AOK and no BSODs during.

There is no alterations to the BIOS and everything is running at stock, and I crosschecked all my parts twice, everything is compatible. Although the machine still crashed even when completely idle. Also sometimes there is a buzzing noise with a temporary screen freeze every so often, sometimes seconds before a blue screen and sometimes hours before.

The system runs very cool with only 30 degrees Celsius past ambient when under full load. And with 10 or so when idle.

Therefore went ahead and tried driver verifier. It took good 8 hours of operational time but the machine finally crashed to BSOD.

Here are some of the messages after the crashes:

I normally would consider myself pretty tech savvy but I am out of options on this one. I have yet to reinstall Windows however as consider that to be turning the house to change a light bulb, and even if I do need to I would like to know what is causing the problem so I can then attend to the fault.

I am posting a zip file as requested by the pinned up thread. However the .zip includes 2 reports instead of 1, one before and one after the verifier ran.

I hope you guys can help me out!

Still testing it but it isn't showing up with anything... I have been testing it in odd bouts of time as it is the end of the year and Uni is ripping me up with work, but I got 8 passes already.
I updated and I still get these crashes though. Sometimes even the BSOD freezes which is worrying.

You may not have things configured properly to run that much RAM. Do the following steps in this order:
  1. Download and install CPU-Z and Upload screenshots of the CPU, Mainboard, Memory, and SPD tabs. In the SPD tab, upload an image of each slot. Do this with all 16 GB of RAM installed.

  2. Remove two RAM modules and run with 8 GB of RAM. See if that pair is good by doing your normal routine for as long as it usually takes to get a crash. Then, swap that set of 8 GB with the other set and do the same testing by doing your normal routine for as long as it usually takes to get a crash. See if you have a bad set of RAM first. Then we can try all 16 GB and work to set up the correct settings for them. Make sure you load setup defaults in the BIOS before testing so you are running with a clean slate.

Are all of your modules identical? Check them very carefully. Even if bought at the same time by the same manufacturer, occasionally kits have slight variations of the RAM and those can conflict.

Are you now running with 8 GB?

The problem originates at default settings. I started having these without touching anything crucial for overclocking, or further specification. ALL of it is normally on auto. Couple of days ago. I manually set the memory to factory specifications it seemed to make it more unstable.

I also noticed programs that tend to crash, freeze or have BSOD occur run on my C: drive. So I went ahead and re-installed the SSD's firmware, couple of hours ago. I've yet to crash since, so it seems as if it has had a stabilizing effect, still sometimes there can be a few days in between BSODs, so I'll wait and check back in on that.

We have seen a lot of problems resolved with SSD firmware updates, BIOS updates, chipset drivers updates, and hard drive controller updates when dealing with SSDs. All components associated with SSDs seem to need to be up to date for stability. Hopefully that helps your situation. Let us know how the system responds over the next few days. You can wait longer to be sure if you want, as well. I will keep an eye out for your response for however long you need to feel comfortable that the system is running as it should.

Is there a way to test the integrity of the built-in sound card? It is the only suspicion I have left, as even though it is properly connected through an HDAUDIO cable, I can't get the front audio ports to work (I have checked and it is enabled in BIOS). Of course I don't really mind, since I don't plan on using them any time soon, but that is me out of ideas.

Still crash points to hardware and probably memory. Have you tried running with 8 GB at a time as suggested earlier in this thread?

Yeah, I did that. Unfortunately the system wouldn't POST with Dr. Debug code of 45. When I tried to return it to its original setup it gave me code 2E. Both times there was and is no video output, although all fans spin up. CMOS reset doesn't help.

Before I did any of that I went for another go at memtest. That was in my original 16gb system, it was rather unusual and you can find it attached to this.

Since I am now stuck with my box of misery, that is my old system. I'd really appreciate if we can solve this.

K. One problem solved. I am now writing from my good PC. It appears a memory module had been dislodged somehow, causing the problem. I put all 16GBs back in there in the end, with a CMOS reset to follow suit. I am going to continue testing the system using memtest86+, this time trying to get all the tests in one straight run, although I don't think that should make a difference, but an error has popped up at random, and I want to make sure of it.

Even one error in Memtest86+ is too many. If you get any errors with the RAM firmly in place, it is likely that you have a bad module somewhere down the line.

It isn't a normal memtest error though. If it were a memory error it would just list it and carry on. I left it overnight and I found my PC fully booted in the morning. Presumably the memtest halted again. Any idea where the error occurs or if there is other software to test my system with?

If memtest86+ is halting, you likely have a hardware fault. These types of crashes typically indicate hardware. Do some hardware checks.
