Hey, I just put together a new rig and its been giving me random BSoD errors. I've tried updating all my drivers and I believe most, if not all of them are current.

I tried to use verifier.exe to see what was going wrong and it came out with errors for gdrv.sys which is a driver for the gigabyte software. I've since uninstalled all that and gotten rid of the gdrv.sys file. However, the errors have continued with the last one being when i left the system idle.

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

The other driver that the driver verifier flagged was UsbFltr.sys - Supposedly Ortek USB Keypad Driver, update from here (if you have the device): ORtek Download

You had a few bugchecks with the STATUS_ACCESS_VIOLATION 1st parameter which means that you had a memory access error. This could be due to a driver (however the one mentioned is a Microsoft Driver - cdd.dll) or a hardware fault.

Run a memtest:
reventon said:
Memtest - Instructions:

Download the ISO (or the .exe for USB drives) from here Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Then (if you have chosen the ISO) burn the ISO using ImgBurn: The Official ImgBurn Website

Boot from the CD/USB and run the test (at least 5 passes per test) with only one stick of RAM in place at a time.

It is a time consuming process but it is the only way to be sure it isn't a RAM fault.

For your final test, run the test with all the RAM in place.

Hey!
Ty for the quick reply, I was also wondering about the ntkrnlmp.exe and nvlddmkm.sys issues. Is there anything i can do to specifically address those two errors?

Hi,

ntkrnlmp.exe

Is the NT Kernel - the underlying program in Windows that makes everything else run. It is very unlikely that this is causing your errors. It just gets blamed for it when there is not a clear cause.
nvlddmkm.sys
Code:
nvlddmkm.sys Tue Jun 08 10:16:55 2010

The above shows that it is up to date, and up-to-date drivers very rarely cause issues.
See how your system goes when you update that one USB driver, but given the range of BSODs it is likely there is a hardware fault involved (hence the memtest instructions - easiest part of hardware to test)

this driver

is a year out of date and suggests you have either Norton Ghost or itunes installed and I suggest you go here and update your gearaspi driver which is known to have issues on win7 64bit systems :(

let us know how it goes :geek:

Okay, I ran the memory tests, there were no errors. I also updated with GEARAspiWDM.sys file. I also messed with a few bios settings and enabled XMP profile 1 for my ram as well as setting its voltage from 1.5 -> ~1.64 which I was advised to do on the corsair forums.

Thus far the crashes have stopped. Not particularly sure what did it, but I'll take what i can get. Thank you guys for all the help!
