Hi,

I keep getting random BSOD. Memory dump below. Unfortunately I don't know hoe to interpret it. I see the file below says Vista driver fault but I have ensured all drivers are Win 7 64 bit. Unless someone can say otherwise. Can anyone please help?

Thanks in advance! Dave

Your .dmp file shows a PROCESS1_INITIALIZATION_FAILED .. This error can be caused by any part of the disk subsystem, including bad disks, bad or incorrect cables, mixing different ATA-type devices on the same chain, or drives that are not available due to hardware regeneration. It can also be caused by a missing file from the boot partition, or by a driver file that has been disabled from the Drivers tab by mistake.

Check your cables for your hard drive. If you can boot into safe mode, run chkdisk /f/r as well as sfc /scannow just to be safe.. How old is your drive...this could be caused by a faulty/dying drive.. Hope this helps..

I will do all the checks you have mentioned. My disks are both SATA ands on differing leads and MOBO ports. However, the main 600GB C: is a few years old now. Thanks for the help. I'll let you know how I get on after running your tests above.

All sorted. Thank you very much. Check disk came up with nothing but sfc /scannow revealed numerous errors it tried to fix. I ran this 4 or 5 times but system still couldn't fix them. I backed up my drive, installed a new 1Tb drive last night, restored the C drive and all checks out OK. I have scanned the old drive in an external caddy and it has numerous bad sectors. Thanks again for all your help. Spot on service.
