Hi, Just finished mounting an new computer, but I get BSOD randomly. I updated all drivers using DriverFinder. I would like to know what causes these BSOD. Here is the last minidump file I got from c:\windows\Minidump directory.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your fast reply. I have followed the instructions for the BSOD reports and attaching the file. Please note that I have put the report from perfmon in the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 folder.

Hope that this will give me a good hint on what is going wrong, because, I am kind of confused about all this random BSOD.

The dmp(s) point to ntkrpamp.exe as the probable cause. We know this is not the case, as these are core OS files, and will definitely not cause a BSOD. They are just the default files the debuggers blame when they can't see a better cause. We need to run driver verifier to pinpoint the faulting driver...

- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out.

Then upload the new dumps here

Hi, I tryed to follow the steps, but when I open Verifier, there is no application in the list, and no "Create custom settings (for code developers)" option. I am running Verifier 4.1. Should I add the "ntkrpamp.exe" application ??

Sorry, I did not run the good "Verifier". Now I found it and will follow the steps you mentionned.
Thanks and sorry for the previous message.

Ok, so I followed the steps mentionned above. After rebooting, I get a BlueScreen (that I dont have time to see) and I have to go thru the Startup restore (sorry for my translation, I used Win7 in french). The restore repairs the boot problem and I can boot the system, but I cannot have verifier results !!.

The resulting dumps are found in C:\Windows\Minidump

Boot into safe mode with networking and upload the contents of the folder

Hello glacoursiere,

Let's start out with some potential software causes, before going into hardware.

First, I notice this driver:
Code:
gdrv.sys Thu Mar 12 23:22:29 2009 (49B9D175)
That version is known to cause BSODs; please remove AutoGreen, and whatever other Gigabyte power-saving programs are installed.

One dump blames applecharger.sys. I haven't been able to find what application is using that, but it is obviously some Apple product. I see a few different Apple programs installed; are you using an iPod?

Install these Realtek Ethernet drivers: Realtek
Code:
Rt64win7.sys Thu Mar 04 08:42:52 2010 (4B8FB8DC)

Now none of the latest dumps appear to be caused by driver verifier. Be sure to keep it running, and when you get more BSODs, upload the new dump files.

...Summary of the dumps:

Hi again, So I uninstalled everything that came from Gigbyte, and whenremoving "@BIOS Ver 2.06", the computer just rebooted, and after rebooting, the program is still in the list of program installed, and the uninstall function is giving no response. Anyway, I continued to remove all the other Gigabyte program correctly. I also installed the network card driver you asked me to. Since then, no BSOD. I also reconfigured Verifier (again, following the steps) and after rebooting, I could not reboot normaly (system is freezing and rebooting on Windows logo). So I rebooted in "safe mode with network support, that's the mode I am in right now.

So I send you the content of the "c:\windows\minidump" folder.

I am not using any iPad, iPod, iPhone, but I am using iTunes to listen to music.

I realy appreciate your help, it does secure me. ANd hopfully, you will help finding the problem.

Thank you very much.

If the BSODs persist, could you upload a new jcgriff2 report? I notice gdrv.sys was running in both of the latest dumps; perhaps we can identify the program using it.

Finally, I suggest a RAM test: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/105647-ram-test-memtest86.html

Ok, I did not have BSOD yet, but I have ran the jcgriff2 and sending you the report. I will run a memory test right now and I will give you, eventually, the report of the memory test .

Thanks again

Thank you.

I cannot open your MSINFO32 file, and I've had no luck "uncorrupting" it. Could you create one in text format for me? Enter msinfo32 into the start menu, and then go to File > Export and save it as a text file.

One day without BSOD

Hi again, I did not have BSOID all day long yesterday afetr making the modification you instruct me. This is amazing. But last night, at about 2:00, I had BSOD. So I ran this morning the jcgriff2 utility and I am sending you the result. As for the MSinfo32, I did run it and I had the message saying that it could not read the MSInfo32 file. So I saved it in a new file named msinfo32_new.nfo

Thank you again

Still rebooting and BSOD

Hello again, I am getting frustated at ma system, gving me random BSODs. Even after the modifications, it is still giving me a lot of BSOD a day. I am tinking that they are probably coming from defectvie hardware, because who would write such defective drivers.......... Anyway, if I could only find what is causing all of those BSOD....

Thanks again for your help
