Random BSOD

I have not forgotten cJoe690, I'm currently on a vacation to visit family for about a week since yesterday, that I have internet means that I will only answer questions without analysis, though I found that will be difficult since it seems I'm addicted to analyzing.

So far I have checked everything looks fine :)

What GPU do you EXACTLY have?

A R9 200 series is a bit generic given that there are many different GPUs in this serie with different specs.

Update. I convinced a friend of mine to switch GPUs with me for a couple hours. I used his GTX 670 and it worked well with zero problems. He did not get a BSOD with my card but his second monitor would go black or freeze when opening up a game in full screen. He also had audio lag when opening/alt+tab up a game. Which were the same problems I had as well. I know 2 hours isnt very long but that's all the time we had. I'm thinking about writing to AMD support about this and possibly getting a new card, thoughts?

My apologies, not sure why I didn't specify. It's a Sapphire R9 290 4G GDDR5 DUAL DVI-D/HDMI/DP TRI-X OC Version PCI-Express.

I and probably others were having the same thought about the card being the possible cause, though I asked specific details of the GPU to check the power supply to see if there was enough wattage given that many different GPUs in the same series have different power requirements.

Had you recently updated drivers before the issue started? If so try going back to your original drivers or slightly older ones.

To what I understand the OP has already tried a few drivers, most of the time it is then necessary to move on to the next part of troubleshooting > hardware.

This PC is driving me nuts, I explained in the post above that I'm borrowing my friends GTX 670. Today I tried to play some games and I experienced terrible fps and computer lag. In the middle of a game my computer completely froze and made a ERRGGGGGGH sound through my headset. Since then my fps is shit and games are un-playable. Just yesterday I was playing completely fine with his card! What is going on? I feel like I should be testing my other hardware components..

The problem initially started months ago after updating my driver so I went back to the older driver and it worked fine. Since then there has been a handful of driver updates from AMD and I tried a couple of them if not all.

Joe Towns and Axe bear with me I would like to see what the PSU is up to because without the rails being ok then nothing is going to work eh?

Joe do this
Using HW Info
PART A:
You can test the volts on the PSU with HW Info HWiNFO, HWiNFO32/64 - Download < download the right bit version and close the right hand window select Sensors and scroll down to the power section where you will see what the volts are doing see my pic. In my pic the section (Nuvoton) with VBATT is a dead give away you are in the section for the rail voltages. There are other section titles and one that pops up often is ITE
Now the voltage on the different rails have to be within 5% =+/- of what is required or the machine will not work properly if at all.

IE
12v = 11.4v min to 12.6max
5v = 4.75v min 5.25v max
3.3v = 3.135v min to 3.465v max

See this for the rail voltage info
PSUs 101: A Detailed Look Into Power Supplies (Section 2.)
The original right hand window shows the machine running and is handy for that but for looking at the components in some detail close it and use the main left hand side panel
FOR OTHER COMPONENTS
PART B:
Open each small square with + in it on the section the components are in and then click on the individual component/s (it will highlight in blue) - in the right hand side will appear all sorts of details including brands speeds and other essential info that particular device. See pic for example.

Using PART B: you can get soemin depth info on the GPU too

I know it is in there Martijn but I have found this software not only very accurate when I have measured with my own dedicated and pro model digital multimeters and I am not so sure about the BIOS readings at times too. I also find this software gives extreme details on the different components in a machine and some that are really overkill, plus it often avoids opening up a machine to physically look.

But each to his own eh?
