random BSOD

please help! 3 or 4 times a day getting BSOD. could be reading E-mail or doing nothing.

I would run a ram check Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool and a HDD check HD Diagnostic and a system file scan
start>cmd.exe>right click run as admin>type sfc /scannow

Other things can be bios or AV look into these if necessary, try these options and post back your results

You also have some old drivers on your system i would look into updating these

If you scroll down to more infomation, 3, thats what i got when i run the debugger on the newest dump file you provided. Except for arg 2,3,4 had diffrent numbers and letters, but i think thats just an example.

I dont know, im not to expeirnced but that is what i have found, i dont think you should trust what i say since im beginner, but i would like to compare my findings to someone more expeirnced.

burned memtest iso to cd. caused two bsod's. how do i run the test? can't seem to boot computer from the cd? what am i doing wrong? the windows 7 memory test says memory is ok. hate to reformat and reinstall only to find out its a hardware problem. thanks for any help. here is the newest minidump

On HP's you tap "Esc" as the HP logo appears
That will get you to the Selection menu.
On newer HP's you'll then press "F9" to access the boot device selection menu

Alternatively, you can access the BIOS and set the CD/DVD drive as the first in the boot sequence.

All are STOP 0x7F errors (more info on "Usual Causes" and "Resolving the problem" here: BSOD Index)
All blame ntkrnlmp.exe - the kernel (core) of the operating system. This is probably wrong as corruption of the kernel will cause a lot of other problems other than an occasional BSOD. So, we look elsewhere....

So, please remove these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager.
Please use the following instructions to locate the most currently available drivers to replace the one's that you uninstall OR remove:

How To Find Drivers:
- search Google for the name of the driver
- compare the Google results with what's installed on your system to figure out which device/program it belongs to
- visit the web site of the manufacturer of the hardware/program to get the latest drivers (DON'T use Windows Update or the Update driver function of Device Manager).
- if there are difficulties in locating them, post back with questions and someone will try and help you locate the appropriate program.

If you continue to get BSOD's after updating the above drivers (as was also recommended by Pauly in Post #2), please run Driver Verifier according to these directions. I'm unsure if it will help, but it can't hurt in these circumstances.

Using Driver Verifier is an iffy proposition. Most times it'll crash and it'll tell you what the driver is. But sometimes it'll crash and won't tell you the driver. Other times it'll crash before you can log in to Windows. If you can't get to Safe Mode, then you'll have to resort to offline editing of the registry to disable Driver Verifier.

So, I'd suggest that you first backup your stuff and then make sure you've got access to another computer so you can contact us if problems arise. Then make a System Restore point (so you can restore the system using the Vista/Win7 Startup Repair feature).

In Windows 7 you can make a Startup Repair disk by going to Start....All Programs...Maintenance...Create a System Repair Disc - with Windows Vista you'll have to use your installation disk or the "Repair your computer" option at the top of the Safe Mode menu .

Then, here's the procedure:
- Go to Start and type in "verifier" (without the quotes) and press Enter
- Select "Create custom settings (for code developers)" and click "Next"
- Select "Select individual settings from a full list" and click "Next"
- Select everything EXCEPT FOR "Low Resource Simulation" and click "Next"
- Select "Select driver names from a list" and click "Next"
Then select all drivers NOT provided by Microsoft and click "Next"
- Select "Finish" on the next page.

Reboot the system and wait for it to crash to the Blue Screen. Continue to use your system normally, and if you know what causes the crash, do that repeatedly. The objective here is to get the system to crash because Driver Verifier is stressing the drivers out. If it doesn't crash for you, then let it run for at least 36 hours of continuous operation (an estimate on my part).

Reboot into Windows (after the crash) and turn off Driver Verifier by going back in and selecting "Delete existing settings" on the first page, then locate and zip up the memory dump file and upload it with your next post.

If you can't get into Windows because it crashes too soon, try it in Safe Mode.
If you can't get into Safe Mode, try using System Restore from your installation DVD to set the system back to the previous restore point that you created.
If that doesn't work, post back and we'll have to see about fixing the registry entry off-line.

thanks for all your help! so far, no bsod. i think the major problem was the Synaptic Touch Pad Driver needed to be updated. i could not find updates for the following:

was surprised how unhelpful the hp website is for updating drivers. any ideas where i can get these updates without lots of jumping through hoops!!?? thanks again for the help.

To the right of each driver filename is a web address that starts with

http://www.carrona.org/dvrref.html

That is my website.
Look up the driver filename in the left hand column (it's numeric, then alphabetic).
In the far right column is a link to the place you should get the latest version from (to the best of my knowledge).

The HP Mobile Data Protection stuff will have to come from the HP website.

problem solved!! thanks to all who helped. reformatted the drive,reinstalled windows 7, spent many many hours reinstalling programs,finding passwords,tweaking all the settings ect. seems it was totally a software problem. both my kids have macs. neither has ever had this bsod nonsense. i think my next computer may be a mac!!!
