Random BSODs. Drivers are up to date and Hardware has gotten the A-OK

I work at a university and my IT guy scared me to the point that i bought a 20 buck program at office depot . I've had virus's crawl on my thumb drive at work I thought I would put the same program they run there on my comp. If you say I'm covered with out I'll believe take your word for it.

As long as you have MSE installed, you are protected.

Any drive, being it usb or whatever that is taken to another machine should always be checked. Simply when you connect a device that was loaned out or that you get from someone else, then in Windows Explorer right-click on the device and choose Scan with Microsoft Security Essentials.

That has been long gone, uninstalled the works. I see it on the list i provided but i swear i uninstalled it, I'm connected via a coord now.

Just double checked on my device manager it's not there.

Review the Blue Screen procedure and regenerate all of the files.
That is what I mean by carrying out that procedure fresh. There should be all of you .dmp file and all of the other files will be created fresh.

Those files are every bit as important as the dump files when we look for possible causes of bsods.

Alrighty I will go Download SE. Started with a fresh file again included the dozens of dump files this time. I checked again it is still listing that stupid wireless thing. Does that mean it's still on my comp hidden away some where?

I removed that and installed MSE right when you told me to. But a new day a new BSOD, unfortunately, this one I have never seen before. I was doing what I normally do when these things keep happening writing in MS word 2003 and listening to music on Pandora (This time on IE8). I couldn't help to notice that windows updater has been unable to update IE9. I've been discounting word as a possibility of the problem because I've been receiving recent updates for it via windows updater. But what do I know.

you update, 100% your Win 7. If that fails, then you are looking at a complete clean install. Simply too many problems coming up on your system.

UPDATING YOUR WIN 7
1. ASSURE THAT YOU RECEIVE ALL UPDATES
WIN | type WINDOWS UPDATE | ENTER |
Change settings (left-hand column) |
checkmark all four of the boxes | OK button

Approve any dialog boxes presented. Let Windows install any update features.

WIN is the key with the Microsoft flag on top.

2. INSTALL CRITICAL UPDATES
Check for Updates (left-hand column)
Install ALL critical updates.
Restart your computer (even if not prompted)

Repeat this procedure until there are no more critical updates.

DO NOT TRUST the “Windows is up to date” in center of dialog. until you see that TWICE IN A ROW!

3. INSTALL IMPORTANT UPDATES
Use the “critical update” procedure until all important updates are installed.

4. INSTALL OPTIONAL UPDATES
Under Optional updates you will be presented with:
a) Microsoft Bing Desktop which is of questionable value
b) a list of about 34 language updates.

You can hide those updates so that aren't continually notified of those updates.
When you click on 34+ optional updates are available, then you
a) highlight all of the language updates,
b) right-click anywhere in the highlighted list.
c) click on Hide Updates,
d) OK button.
Install ALL other Optional Updates.
Use the “critical update” procedure.

UPDATE GOLDEN RULES
Install ALL, yes, ALL updates.
This is Win 7 and not Vista or XP (eXPired).

UPDATE IS HUNG –TAKING FOREVER
Hung is very doubtful unless you interrupted updates.

CTRL + SHIFT + ESC key combo will pop-up the Task Manager.
Lo and behold, Windows Update is still running!

You hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys.
While holding them down, tap the ESC key once.

I'm afraid I have been up to date with windows, I even followed your instructions perfectly to make sure. I got everything installed minus Bing and IE9. Am I really looking to reinstall windows? I hate doing that...

I think it maybe important to note that i had BSOD's before my last time reinstalling windows. While my SDD and memory check out and my CPU can take a load without errors am I still looking at a hardware probelm?

I did a clean install today. it did not go smoothly i ended up having to take out one of my sticks of memory to get it done. 10 minutes in i I get a BSOD while runing windows update. I got others from sitting idle. In the end i am un-able to completely update windows. I got a majority of the updates but i still have ~25 left. What do i need to do to fix this? I included in the regular info. tell me if you need anything else.

Your problem is hardware.

Since you said that you had to remove a memory stick to install, then you should start by:
1. going to the gigabyte site and making sure that your memory is correct and compatible.
2. testing your memory with Memtest86+

With all of the problems you have had, you should look into getting a low-end Dell, HP or Toshiba computer.

The stick that was once in slot one was bad. Mobo and the other sitck seem fine. Thank goodness for lifetime warrenties, what do i need to do now?

Sorry, what i meant to say i ran it all night. I am on the third 7th pass for the slots but i don't expect probelms it was very clear that one stick of memory was bad. I don't see the model of RAM on the memory supported list but the speed is supported. Will i need to find a replacement that is on the list?

I suspect that their answer will be the same as mine: all memory sticks should be from the list.

I guess that is what I get for buying sticks that were on sale. I cut the last slot test 4 passes short, no errors, and reinstalled windows. Went flawlessly, updated, drivers, everything, the works. Because they are not on the list does that mean my Mobo damaged the stick or something to that affect? Should I run out and buy an approved pair right now?

Doubtful that sticks have been damaged, but you should get an approved pair so that you can be assured that your problems are not due to erratic ram behavior.
