Random BSOD's, either in games or regular windows activities

Dear all,

Suddenly I find myself getting random BSOD's. I see no clear pattern right now since it seem to be regardless of if I just do regular work in Windows, during browsing Internet or playing games.

Sorry if it's a rar file instead of zip, hope it's fine anyway.

Any assistance would be really grateful.

I have not done any hardware changes lately and this issues started around 3-4 days ago.

I have done some basic things like running HD defrag, removing some software that was installed latest week or so, analyzing and fixing registry and spyware/adware removal using System Mechanic Proffesional (Trial Version).

At first, let us start for a faulting driver. In such a situation, it is better to enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.

Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable

Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Also, uninstall Advanced System Care, and Free up the startup.

1. Click on the Start button
2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
3. Select the “Startup” tab.
4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
5. Apply > OK
6. Accept the restart.

Just to update you.

• Disabled all startup things.

• In fact don't have any antivirus installed.

• Have already de-installed both ASC and SMP.

• Enabled deriver verification last night, left computer on during the night. No BSOD yet at least.

I have a feeling though it happens when I do things on the computer rather than if it just stands idle.

Keep you posted later this evening when it have been running for 24 hours.

I'd suggest you to use the computer during verifier is enabled. Do the most crash prone actions ... force it to crash.

Verifier in idle may not crash at all sometimes.

But if it does not crash even then, good news, and we know our next course of action in that case.

Hi again,

Well, no BSOD's so far and I have tried to force it by using the comp as I normally do with windows stuff and games.

I just now turned off Driver verifier as well, been running for 2 days now.

The startup is still in "free up mode" sort of say, so everything is turned off still for those options.

Either these actions (uninstall of ASC and SMP + disable startup options) did solve it or I simply have not got unlycky yet and got any BSOD.

What would you propose as next step?

I think i have found the real root cause - heat. Or cooling if you like.

It turned out that I had not cleaned my fans and grids for awhile. After doing that (including graphic card) and also changed the airflow direction for one of my chassy fans it now feels the computer is not so warm like it was.

Reason I checked and took this action was that suddenly the comp made total crasch not even giving blue screen, like a emergency shutdown. Im guessing it was protecting the CPU.

Obviously I should have thought about this in the first place but it simply slipped my mind.

Anyway, this seem to have done the trick!

Hi again,

I guess it wasen't the cooling after all....

Have got another BSOD and also just now (like 10 minutes ago when writing this) the comp totaly just frooze, could not do anything with either mouse or keyboard. Was trying ctrl+alt+delete also but nothing happend. After 2-3 min I gave up and shutdown the PC with the button.

Attached is a new zip.

Note that I still have all startup options disabled and I have no antivirus software installed.

It would seem it was hardware error in this case. After buying a new graphic card everything works fine.
