Hello,

I recently (early September 2013) built my first PC and have been experiencing random BSODs since completion. There seems to be no pattern or common occurrence that causes them. I can be checking e-mail, searching Google, reading forums, etc. Sometimes they happen after hours of being online, sometimes after only a few minutes. They've happened without being online as well. There are days when they don't happen and others where they happen several times. I was originally only using MSE for antivirus though I went ahead and installed Bit Defender Total Security 2013 as well, it hasn't helped. My main uses for my system are internet surfing, picture storage, music playing and storage, and music video playing, downloading and storage.

Here's my system rundown:
Case: Lian Li PC-9NB with added C-02 optical drive bezel and additional front intake fan filter
Rear case fan: Cougar CF-V12HPB
Front case fan: Cougar CF-V14HP (x2)
PSU: Antec High Current Pro HCP-750
MB: Intel DZ77GA-70K
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO with Prolimatech PRO-USV14
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Tactical (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
Hard Drive 1: Crucial M4 CT128M4SSD2 2.5" 128GB SATA III MLC Internal SSD (for operating system)
Hard Drive 2: Western Digital WD1002FAEX Caviar Black 1 TB SATA III (for everything else)
Graphics card: EVGA 03G-P4-3663-KR - GeForce GTX 660 Ti 3GB Super Clocked +
Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium HD with THX SB1270
Optical drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST/BLK/B/AS - 24X DVD Burner
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

All parts were purchased new for the build.

I did have my processor overclocked to 4.5GHz via the Intel Extreme MB auto adjust when I first set up though I've since went to a basic bios setting with no overclocking or changes. This has made no difference.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Hello ImmortalOne.

We have checked two of your latest crash dumps, and both of them are caused by BitBefender.

You need to uninstall BitDefender. Use Microsoft Security Essentials as your antivirus with windows inbuilt firewall, and free MBAM as the on demand scanner.
Download, install and update those, and then run full system scans with both of them, one by one.

Also, there are some display related errors.

Install the NVIDIA DRIVERS 314.22WHQL only.

  • Uninstall All nvidia items in Control Panel > Programs and features
    • 3D Vision Control Driver
    • 3D Vision Driver
    • Graphics Driver
    • HD Audio Driver
    • PhysX
    • nvidia Update
(Are you using nvidia chipset drivers? If so, dont uninstall anything other than those are listed).
  • Now follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling
  • Download 314.22 WHQL. While installing, Select Custom (Advanced) install. In the next page, follow this settings:

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.

  1. Click on the Start button
  2. Type “msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
  3. Select the “Startup” tab.
  4. Deselect all items other than the antivirus (Microsoft Security Essentials)
  5. Apply > OK
  6. Accept then restart.
Let us know the results. I guess that there may be some other issues, and some other actions may be required, but only after seeing the results.

Hi Arc,

Thank you for the reply and all of the suggestions. I've done everything except for reverting my graphics card driver back to the older version. I'm curious as to why you suggested this. Are the updated drivers defective or incompatible somehow?
Also, I had another BSOD prior to changing everything, I've attached the file below. I was watching a YouTube video, the video and audio stopped, there was a loud audio buzz then shortly after the BSOD. I recall having it happen in this manner before as well.
I haven't had any issues since the changes though I've only been on my pc and online very briefly this week due to a severe cold.

Thank you again.

If you dont follow what is suggested, how can I help you?

I suggested this, cause you need to do this. All the versions following this one are unstable.

Update

Just thought that I'd provide an update...

I believe that my issue has been solved. I haven't had a single BSOD or system crash since uninstalling Bit Defender Total Security 2013 and freeing up my startup.
Also, I'm still running the current Nvidia drivers and never did reset or revert to the suggested older drivers.

Many thanks to Arc for the help.

Having BSOD issues again...

Hello,
Recently(over the last three months) I've been having random BSOD issues again. They seemed to have started around the same time that I was trying to get my Dell monitor's webcam to work and I installed Dell Webcam Central. I tried to uninstall it via control panel but nothing would happen. It was as if I hadn't selected anything at all. If I went into system hardware and tried to delete or disable the webcam or it's drivers I would get an immediate BSOD. Earlier this week I downloaded and ran the free demo of Revo Uninstaller Pro. I used it to delete Dell Webcam Central and all of it's related installs which worked fine. However I just received another BSOD today.

P.S. My system info is still current other than I haven't had Bit Defender installed since my initial issue in this thread. I have MSE(though it won't run a scan, always errors) and the free version of Malwarebytes Anti-Malware installed. I rarely run or try to run either. I did run Malwarebytes yesterday, it found nothing.

I used the SF Diagnostics tool and attached the file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

TIA

Still having BSOD issues. Sometimes days or weeks apart, and sometimes it will happen several times within an hour. Here's another recent log file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Crikey IO, since I have now read your story I may as well offer an opinion. The job here is to go "overkill" to get it stable, then build back to where you would like to be, knowing what you just did and can revert. That crack about later nVidia drivers being unstable is soooo true. By the journey of personal discovery I have saved a few of the older versions purely by discovering root cause the hard way. I just looked at them and, surprise surprise, the one I am absolutely sure is stable is 314.22. Seems I am not alone in discovering that the hard way!

I also have 320.18 saved as that, for me, was stable when later ones weren't. I have retained other versions but these are purely for experimental purposes - ie I would load them and hope for stability but if I didn't get it tough potatoes, back to the earlier versions. These "others" include 335.23, 344.11, 353.62, 355.83 and 364.72. I did find 353.62 could be stable, but it was the first thing to go if issues arose.

Why is it so? I haven't a clue - you would expect so much more from the keepers of the faith at nVidia but one thing I also know is I have checked the grass on the other side and Radeon are a lot worse - they have bone jarring conflicts that are insanely difficult to resolve, whereas nVidia stuff is pretty annoying, but manageable.

This is my long-winded way to say that, unless you make it clear you have done exactly as was earlier suggested here, you shouldn't be surprised nobody is giving any more responses to your requests for further assistance.

Looking at your thread, you kept replying to your own thread, if you didn't I would've replied but thanks to your own replies I thought you were already being helped...

The key is not replying until someone else has replied to provide help, if you don't you decrease the chance of someone looking into your problem as you are removed from the 'unanswered threads' list where we look mostly.

No worries a0, I figured as much - also the problem I had there was pretty unique and not too easy to fix, as it turned out. So the people reading it had nothing to say, fair enough! My chipping in to THIS thread was basically to point out the bleeding obvious - this is not a babysitting service and the simple fact that anybody (like your good self) is kind enough to help is just brilliant. But by the same token this OP needs to run the "personal responsibility" thing down first - sure his new logs may show some glaring issue, but I wouldn't be asking myself unless I had a fair crack at it, which as the bare minimum would be doing what I was told to do in the first place! I just pointed out that was a pretty legitimate request.

More power to ya...

VinceS, my initial issue was resolved without reverting back to the earlier NVidia driver set... and I stayed BSOD free for just over two years. It's been only recently that I've had the issues again... and right after installing Dell Webcam central as mentioned above. I would think if it were the graphics driver set then I would've been having issues all along, not just randomly again after two years. I'm not disputing as I have no idea how to interpret the diagnostics logs, I'm just asking. I also have no issue with reverting to an older driver set IF that is indeed what is causing my latest BSODs.
axe0, I wasn't aware of that, thank you for the tip. I had only reposted in my original thread due to Arc's last comment and due to the attention notice at the top of the BSOD Help and Support page.
Is it your consensus that it's the NVidia driver set as well based on my latest diagnostics log?

Thank you both for your replies as well.

It is normal to create a new thread instead of replying to your own thread when there is quite a time difference between the last post and the new post, a problem is in 99% of the situations never the same.

Still having BSOD issues. Sometimes days or weeks apart, and sometimes it will happen several times within an hour. Here's another recent log file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I got unsubscribed from a lot of old threads. :(

.... hardware issue is detected with two different bugcheck codes. So let us conduct the basic hardware tests.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors. Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.
Take a camera snap of the memtest86+ screen and let us see it.

Stress test the Graphics Card using Furmark.Take a screenshot of the furmark window before closing it. Upload the screenshot for us. Also let us know if you have experienced any crash/BSOD and/or artifacts during the test.

Stress test the CPU. It saves the result as a .txt file in the prime95's folder. Upload the file for us.

Check if the Power Supply Unit (PSU) supplying adequate power to the computer or not.
Also let us know the wattage of the installed PSU.

Is the computer hot? Report us the heat of the computer after a couple of hours of your normal usage. Upload a screenshot of the summery tab of Speccy. Alternatively, you can publish a Speccy snapshot too: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/311593-speccy-publish-snapshot-your-system-specs.html .

Please make your reply as much documented as possible. You may post the results one after one, or you may post them in a single post.
