I have been getting random BSOD's while I am away from my computer, never while it is in use. They have been occurring about twice a month but I have had two in the past 24 hrs.

A friend suggested I was using old IDE drivers and I should switch to AHCI but I am not sure if that is the problem and I believe I would have to reinstall windows in order to make the switch.

Here are the two most recent reports from Event Viewer. Details are in the attachment.

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x000000f4 (0x0000000000000003, 0xfffffa801109a730, 0xfffffa801109aa10, 0xfffff8000358b510). A dump was saved in: C:\Windows\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 072512-50497-01.

Hello, sorry for the late reply as we are swamped like karl said.

Drivers before 2009 are known to cause problems. Please update: Drivers | Wacom Americas

From your crash files it seems that the winit.exe file is crashing. Which if vital for the OS to run.
Run these, and post back results.

If the SFC comes up with errors, and is unable to fix them. Run the SFC 2 more times. It should be able to fix them then.

Post back results.

Sorry for being anxious. I was worried I was going to get buried and no responses at all. I thank you for your help though.

I updated the driver and ran SFC where no integrity violations were found. I ran it twice again with the same results.

I haven't ran the disk check yet. The drive in question is an SSD. Can I run disk check on it? My internet search said mostly no. Should I still do it anyways?

Any other ideas?

yes, you can run CHKDSK on a SSD.

What should be avoided is Defrag. A SSD is a solid state device with total random read/write capability with no time penalty.

Justin - Not since yesterday morning. Like I said previously, they only occur once or twice a month, although I had two in 24 hrs yesterday. They also only occur while I am away from my computer, never when I am using it. I do not have sleep enabled either.

Karl - I ran CHKDSK and no problems were found.

I think I am going to attempt to switch from IDE to AHCI so I can update the SATA drivers.

Thanks Karl, I got that confused.

This is a odd one though. I have never seen one like this. But yes try that, and post back. This is a learning experiance for me here.

Me too. This is all happening on my first custom build.

I am having a problem switching from IDE to AHCI. I really don't want to have to reinstall Windows. I am unable to install AHCI drivers in IDE mode and I can't switch to AHCI mode in the bios and start up unless the drivers are installed. I read somewhere there is a way to do it with a registry edit. Is that true?
