Solved Random BSODs (while playing games and ETC)

Arcis, saying you again, as long as there is faulty RAM, no bugcheck analysis can make you crash free. Please try to understand.

I know. I do understand that. My problem is that I don't necessarily have the money to keep replacing things for this computer. Especially things that I just replaced. Everything that I've been getting so far to try amd fix it has been running on a credit card. One that is getting close to being maxed. I can't afford a technician to help me. Can you really blame me for hoping that the answer is something as simple as something being misplaced?

Determine with certainty the RAM is spec'd correctly for your PC by googling the make/model + Memory Upgrade. Read and compare all of the results, including the support pages from the HP website for your exact model. Then run the Crucial System Scanner software to find out what type of memory is in your computer.

Once you are sure of the specs you can change to Google Shopping view and compare prices to determine if you can save much money buying online vs. at a local shop.

However if there is any doubt then use a parts counter at a local tech store like CompUSA, Tiger Direct, etc to have them provide the sticks after they spec them first. Then you can more easily return them easily to exchange for different RAM if it doesn't work right.

Ill try that when I get home. I've run crucial scanner recently to help me find the ram I have now, but in my excitement I might have gotten the wrong type.

If I add at little. Following Arc's and Greg's instructions is very important to do precisely. Until you and them know for sure that the parts you have assembled are correct and will work together with each other all other testing could be a waste of time and give false results. We understand the money thing. Arc's and Greg's advice has fixed thousands of computers and has never cost one soul one red cent. On this Forum we help people and learn because we enjoy doing it.

So here is a screenshot of what I was able to obtain from searching my make/model, as well as the crucial scan side by side. The part that worries me is my computer specs saying that it supports PC3-10600 and PC3-8500, while Crucial states it can run PC3-12800 and PC3-10600. I've looked on the physical RAM sticks as well as on the boxes, neither state which one of those they are. It states it is 1333MHz, which leads me to believe it is the PC3-10600.

And I'm sorry if what I said earlier seemed rude. This entire thing has just been driving me up the wall. It came at the worst time, just as I decide to go back to school and take online classes. My work is offering online training for extra hours (which I desperately need), but it's crashed as I've tried to take them. This is my first time really doing anything with the internal components of a computer, and it sucks feeling like a child that knows nothing. So I apologize.

I managed to find the full RAM specs online. Here is a screenshot if it helps. The one on the left is the first one I purchased, the one on the right is the set that came with 2 in 1 box. All bought from Staples.

Final update. I moved the ram cards again. I had the idea that since originally when I bought the computer, the ram cards seemed to be in slots 2, 3 and 4. So I moved my new ones to those slots, with the paired ram bought together in 3 and 4. I was able to play the game that started the crashes for at least an hour with no crashes at all. I am going to mark this thread as finished. If I have any further problems I know who to turn to now. Thank you for the support and working with me. I know it can't be easy working with n00bs on a daily basis.

Just a little reminder. Please use your motherboard manual for the correct position of ram instillation. Different motherboard require it to be installed in different slots as per the number of sticks of ram being used.
Happy computing and luck with your on line training. I have over the years done a lot of that. Cheep hastards wouldn't pay me for it.

I had trouble finding my motherboard manual. I used a program called cpu-z or something like that to find out my motherboard make and model. All search results pointed me to laptop motherboards, and I found a post saying that foxconn no longer supports it and the manual is unavailable.

Thanks, lol. Came with it's hassles though. I'm surprised I'm not finding clumps of ripped out hair next to my desk because of all the frustration.

So the BSODs didn't stop and it got to the point where it would crash before even starting up windows... so my new Acer desktop ships in 4-9 days. I just can't deal with my current computer anymore. Thank you everyone for the help.

It was bought using a best buy credit card that I avoid using because of its high interest rate. And it can only be used at best buy and all the ram I was finding there wasn't what I was looking for.

The past month or so I've been checking the Staples Clearance Boards inside their front door and regularly see a quality brand new laptop Dual/Quad/I3 with 4-8 gb RAM for $200-$300.

And there's no 30% finance charge you can't afford, just like you can't afford the RAM.

You should ask us first.
