Hi,

PC Info :

X64 Windows 7 (full retail)
The system is around 3.5yrs old.
OS is around the same.

I have been getting quite sporadic and random BSOD's over the past few weeks. The last piece of hardware I installed was 2x2gb sticks of ram which I installed in November 2011.

The only real other hardware/software I installed recently was a Logitech webcam, which I uninstalled yesterday but still received an IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL BSOD this morning around ten minutes after powering up.

I have received other BSOD errors such as :

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED
SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

I have the Blue Screen Viewer and all the errors point back to NTOSKRNL.exe with various addresses, so they don't tell me much.

I have updated the drivers to everything I can think of. I have ran memtest for a long time on all four sticks and then each stick seperately and they passed without any issues.

I also ran CHKDSK and that came back with no bad sectors etc.

On certain BSOD or freezes, the pc will not want to boot back into Windows straight away. The fans power up, I can feel the HDD whirring, but I get no BEEP and no signal to the two screens I have.

I've attached the required files as per the BSOD posting instructions. If anyone can help please do, as this is massively frustrating.

Thanks in advance.

cheers

Sam

Avast Removed

Hi Zigzag,

I had initially uninstalled Avast (normal windows uninstall) so I just ran the cleaner you sent over. All done.

Do you need anything new from me?

cheers

Hi Zigzag,

No problem man, thanks for getting back to me. I thought I had got lost in the midst of peoples bluescreen issues! You must be busy on this forum.

Please find the latest bluescreen attached, this was from the 27th. I luckily didn'y have one yesterday, but I have had periods of 2 - 3 days without one, then all of a sudden it's back.

If there is anything else you need please do ask.

cheers

This one was related to your Avast.

Avast can be a contributing cause of BSOD'S . Please remove and replace with Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST

Hi Zigzag,

Interesting, so Avast caused that one.

Yep I ran that file you linked to and have now installed MSE, ll stable so far. Can you see if Avast was also the cause of these other bluescreens (dump files attached).

As I did at one point before I did install MSE but was still getting bluescreens, but could it have been any 'remains' of Avast?

Thanks again for your help.

cheers

The middle two (3/26) were corrupt so we cant tell. The first one doesnt appear to be related to Avast. It seems to point to HIDCLASS.SYS.

Removing Avast is easier to do.

Hi Zigzag,

Hmm ok, that seems to be USB related. Can you see anything different in these three earlier dumps?

cheers

As I said two of four were corrupt with no info. One pointed to HIDCLASS, and that doesnt nec have to be USB It could be a built in fingerprint reader, etc.

Hi Zigzag,

That .rar should have been a set of earlier bluescreen .dmp files which didn't include the two dated the 26th.

They are :

021412-29374-01.dmp
031112-21777-01.dmp
031312-19890-01.dmp

Do you see those files?

cheers

They are :

021412-29374-01.dmp Not relevant because it is almost 8 weeks old.
031112-21777-01.dmp Corrupt (no information)
031312-19890-01.dmp Inconclusive.

Do you see those files?

Sam the most import DMPS are the most recent ones.
