Hi there.
I've been using my HP Pavilion laptop with Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit for well over a year now. Sometime early in 2010 I partitioned the hard drive to install 64-bit Windows 7 for multimedia editing purposes.
The laptop's specs are:
Intel Centrino 2 Duo 2.66GHz
4GB RAM
ATI Mobile Radeon 4650 with 1GB memory
So I know it's very capable of running Win7 without a hitch.
In December I noticed some issues with the computer - notably not being able to do anything without hanging for at least 10 minutes, not detecting any external USB hard drives (I have 3 so it's not the hard drives) nor detecting my wireless network adapter. At first I did my best to reinstall drivers for pretty much everything on my computer, starting with the wireless adapter and USB controllers but the installers would simply hang. chkdsk and memtest (memtest was provided in the BIOS) didn't come up with anything out of the ordinary. So I grit my teeth and backed up my files, then did a clean install of Windows by formatting the 32-bit partition and reinstalling the OS. This worked, and for a few hours I happily transferred all my backed up files over. Then the computer started acting up, blue screening every 30 minutes or so, even when it was idle. So I reinstalled AGAIN, and it worked for about a week without a blue screen.
However, just 20 minutes ago it blue screened once again (I was spectating a game in Team Fortress 2 at the time). Now I am unable to log in. The light blue welcome screen does not show after starting the computer. Only the pointer is visible. I am also unable to get into Safe Mode because of this problem. I booted from a Windows 7 recovery disc and ran a Startup Repair but that didn't do anything. I'm running a chkdsk right now (5th time in 2 weeks!) and plan on running a memcheck from the BIOS later (which would make it 3 times in 2 weeks).
I'd really like a pointer on what's causing this. As I said before memcheck did not yield errors. I would disassemble my computer and check out the RAM sticks just in case but for some reason the screws don't come loose enough for me to take a look. I'm pretty sure this is a hardware error but I can't identify a culprit.

P.P.S.: The latest BSOD flashed way too quick for me to see what the error code was. Also, I had NOD32 installed and running scans every 2 or 3 days, so I doubt it is a virus.
