From time to time (not every reboot or even every day) I get random entries into my registries like this:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ˆÕ_
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Èü
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Èü^

These are the only three I have now, sometimes I have over ten. They are empty keys but I cannot figure out where they are coming from. I have ran a full virus scan multiple times and it never found anything.

Any clues and how to find out what is causing this. I would run ProcMon from system internals but since it an infrequent occurrence I don't want to run in it all day and bog my system down.

My computer runs Win7x64 Home.

The only possibility I can think of is SOMETHING is trying to create a key or set of keys using non-standard or non-latin characters (like chinese or arabic). Beyond that, I'm still unsure.

Honestly, I would run Registry Prot AND ProcMon and just let it go. Watch for those keys to pop up again. After an incident is recorded, look at ProcMon's logs to see what happens at that timestamp.

I just pulled that one out of my ass and made it up as I went along. It's really all I can think of.

I have exactly the same weird thing showing up. Looks like we guys are the only one who have it.

Do you know anymore already? After every reboot there are some entries.

My problem was a faulty install of logitech setpoint software. I have a G700 mouse and a G15 keyboard and the updates didn't play well with each other.

I ended up uninstalling all of the logitech software and reinstalling the latest versions from their website and I haven't had the problem since.

Thank you, I solved it too. Because of you.

But the new G15 software does suck a little :P.
