Random Crashing...

Alright, so I have had my system since August of 2009. Last month my computer started shutting down randomly, but mostly when under stress of a game...or just to much stuff. Sometimes if i try to start a game, it will crash once I click log on, and will do this no matter how many times I restart it. Then it could work fine for a couple days but then randomly starting shutting down multiple times, again.

I get no BSOD's, just it shuts off, starts booting again on its own but doesnt POST. Thats when I do a hard restart and hope it begins posting. Sometimes it wont even POST on hard restarts. So...any suggestions? As for it being a hardware issue, that is hard to test seeing as though I have no spare parts.

please run system file check to see if everything is ok
Go to start-->type cmd in search and run as administrator--->in cmd window type in sfc /scannow (space between sfc and /)
Are u sure u didn't get any BSODs?

Yes, I am sure I didnt get any BSOD. If I did I would actually be glad

I just check your system specs, u have 6Gb of ram so I guess u can run a lot of stuff on your computer.
have u check the directx version that u are using as well as video card and sounds card problem. I would also update BIOS

Yes I can run alot of stuff, I hardly ever use the 6gb, but still, when the computer is under stress it might crash. I also checked my temps a while back they are good. my CPU is consistantly < 30ºC and my GPU is at 50ºC while running no games. I have DirectX 11. My hardware doesnt run it, but its installed.

Do you have suggestions on how to check problems with my graphics and sound cards? I tested them both on Dxdiag with no problems. A BIOS update is an option I was considering earlier when it was really pissing me off, but I dont have the energy

there is always chances :sarc:, try to update the BIOS, then u can try to un-install driver for sounds card and graphic cards, go to manufacture's website, download newer version and install them. Afterthat, if computer run fine, it's great. If not, u can always ask great experts in this forum, I'm not an expert but I like to help , cheer

Its been a while so maybe someone else has some suggestions...

I went away for 2 weeks and now that I am back it seems being turned off for a while has made my computer crash more often...

You can try a CPU test with Prime95.

I stopped it, it began repeating the tests.

Sorry to say this, but it should be run for several hours, or overnight.

However, I suspect the CPU is not the problem.

What is the make and model of your PSU?

ill just mention that I ran Prime95 for those 5 hours, came back looked at it, posted my post, and I clicked on another tab in IE and comp restarted. Usually wont restart unless in a game...but it has gotten worse.

I really recommend taking it to a PC shop and getting the hardware tested out.
