Hi Guys, long time lurker, first time poster here, looking for some troubleshooting advice.

I "think" i have a driver issue with my graphics card. I'm experiencing random freezing events with the odd crash/BSOD.

as the title says last was a DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL 0x0000000D1 address.

the card is an asus flavour Radeon R7 260x 2 gig DirectCu OC edition Ive had a little peruse on a few forums which shows these can be problematic when it comes to drivers/updates. my machine doesnt crash often (very intermittent 5 times in may, twice in april, 5 times in march, more of an annoyance than anything else)

admittedly I ended up fudging the Asus GPU tweak tool to get my card to work properly (apparently theres a known bug flicking between 2D and 3D rendering mode (if thats a thing?) which flicks the memory clock from 150mhz to the full 1750mhz, if the card wasnt kept busy my pc halted, sometimes randomly. so i set the VRAM to always be 1750mhz (this no longer works as the driver update has made my card a Radeon R7 200 series and isnt recognised by Asus kit)

This has come about as I've recently got Wolfenstein: the old blood on PC, which prompted a driver update from AMD, which was duly done via the auto detect and update via the site. since then ive had considerably more freezing (not so much crashing) where the system halts on hardware.

I'm comfortable saying this isn't hardware as the issue seems to be caused at random. plus Wolfestein runs perfect, unless it crashes :) and corrupts the save file :( if you guys need any more info let me know in the comments, I'm not a PC genius (hence this post ;) ) but i'm fairly competent with PCs / IT savvy, I use bluescreenview to view my crashdump files.

the saga continues

Hi everyone,

Just posting an update as the freezing/halting appears to be getting worse. no crashes just freezing or halting.

after a wolfenstein sesh, general browsing, random freeze

restart, browse for about 10 mins, open a tab, freeze.

last night shut down, before logging off, screen blank, mouse pointer, freeze.

reset my pc, start win normal, login prompt, desktop, freeze

reset my pc, start win normal, login prompt, desktop, open chrome, open windows mail, freeze

so after the 3rd restart everything seems fine.

ive re-attatched the dump files but now there is a full log spanning back to September. PLEASE NOTE: at the time had a 9800GT which was starting to cause problems, which eventually gave up the ghost. my current 260X was installed in November. (all Nvidia drivers have been removed)

At first it was a quirk and an annoyance. now its getting out of control and I want to get it resolved.
