Hello,

I just purchased a custom build and had his problem that I cannot duplicate as it is random.

I purchased components last week and had the problem so I exchanged everything and got new.

Had system built new and problem is still here.

Every so often my entire system will hiccup or skip, the sound and mouse and internet connection all lags. As soon as I restart. The problem goes away?

Specs are

Thank you for filling in your specs and answering my questions.

I'm asking these question to try and isolate the problem as much as possible.

Yes The mouse will skip over the screen and the audio will lag as well with intermittent skips of freezing. They are like 1 or 2 seconds of a system freeze...but everything still works fine besides this. I has happened right after a boot, and it has happened while playing games. I have not been able to duplicate it or find any common denominator yet.

I would check again all connections again, including the ones on the modular power supply.
Some times they do fit very tight and might not be seated all the way. Also make sure their is no side pull or strain on the connectors.

A newly built system (two different builders) it would seem like this wouldn't happen but it cost nothing the check.

Do you have anything plugged into the computer other than the mouse, keyboard?
Are your mouse and keyboard plugged into usb 2.0 or 3.0 or where?

I will check the connections.

I have a logitech headset plugged in as well. And the monitor is in the DVI slot.

All connections are in USB2.0 ports

If the connections are good and I have the problem again. Is there anything I can do to look for to see if there is a specific problem?

Such as event viewer errors?

Never hurts to look in Event Viewer. It might shed some light on things.
By reading a lot of post the are some folk have problems with Logitech head phones and some other brands also.

Do you have a speaker system you could use off of the I/O of the motherboard?

Could you also state in your My System Specs what case your are using.
It could be the connection on the case header you are using for your head phones.

Take a look at my My System Specs, it will give you a idea of what is helpful.

For testing after checking all connection just use the speaker system and see if the problem is still there. If so just use the headphone and see if the problem is still there.

The problem is very difficult to troubleshoot. Any thing that causes power to ground shout, power to power short or a open circuit can cause this problem.

Do you get any BSOD at any time or just a hiccup?

No, I do not get any BSOD, just the hiccup.

I can do that with the connection. It may be something with the case now that you mention it, because the case is the only thing that is the same of the 2 builds. Everything else was completely exchanged.

Good thinking about the case. That is part of isolating the problem.

When the two builds were done was the motherboard removed and installed again.
Sometimes the standoffs can cause the problem. I have also run across on one system where the motherboard I/O pop in panel was causing the problem. It was shorting out one of the USB ports.

Yes the motherboard was removed, exchanged at the store and a new one was reinstalled, every component was exchanged and reinstalled

That should mean that the odds of the motherboard being install incorrectly two times by two different people is very small.
