Random lockups and freezing

It's more likely to be a driver if something is causing issues with sleep, but those typically result in blue screen crashes and not freezes. Freezes typically indicate hardware faults. Sleep mode also utilizes the RAM which is why the Memtest86+ check and diagnostics were recommended.

Would my computer's freezes necessarily be related to its hardware temperature if it constantly occurs after resuming from sleep? Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool completed without any errors, as well.

The reason for monitoring the temperatures is not so much because the temperatures may be causing crashes (although they may), but to make sure the stress testing does not cause the temperatures to reach dangerous levels for the hardware.

I am experiencing the same issue and wondering if any other resolution has been found on this thread? I haven't had a minidump yet as I just turned them on. I have performed all the stress tests stated in this thread and passed them all. I've performed HDD chkdsk at boot as well. I see no errors in the Event Viewer related to the lock up, no warning, no crticals or anything prior to lock up. Only warnings around the same time were DNS error warnings about some website.

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, I just didn't want to create a whole new thread since my experience is identical to this thread. My computer is brand new, I don't overclock, all temps are very low. One caveat for my situation is that this problem occured while I was using Window 8 CP as well (I loaded W8CP when the computer was first built to try it out). I figured it was Windows 8 instability so I loaded Windows 7. In W8CP, the freezes usually happened while using Google Chrome for some plain old web surfing. While running Windows 8, I only had 1 graphics card installed, no CDROM and only the system hard drive in. After installing Windows 7 (And the rest of my hardware), everything worked fine for about 5 days. I could even play Battlefield 3 with no problems, but then last night I was moving some files around while surfing the web and then I plugged in a USB stick, Windows recognized it, gave me the confirmation tone and then it froze (not the same situation as Windows 8 freezes but a browser was open). I did a hard shutdown and when W7 came up, the storage drive was missing. I did another reboot, checked BIOS, everything looked fine, the when W7 came back up, the drive was there (I contribute this to the hard shutdown plus the storage drive was not installed in W8 so I can't contribute the freezes to it). I then plugged USB back into the same slot and everything was fine. Been running stress tests since last night - Memtest86(4 passes), prime95 (5 hours), furmark (Benchmarks), chkdsk @ boot (no errors); no lock up, all things pass. I am hoping to find a resolution to this or at least a way to isolate the problem.

You are not experiencing the same issue if you have different hardware, which you do. It is best that you start a new thread and indicate which steps you have already tried and what problem you are facing.

Although you are not experiencing a blue screen crash, the system logs and system information provided by following the http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-debugging/96879-blue-screen-death-bsod-posting-instructions.html can be very helpful when trying to determine the cause of freezing.

Please start a new thread with the above information in your first post. Thank you. :)
