Hello everyone.
i am in a mess with my pc.
Something is wrong with it but i do not know what..??
anyways the problem i am facing is very peculiar , my pc restarts automatically when log on to my desktop in windows 7 .
No BOSD...
No warnings...
After restarts ...i start again...it starts and again the same thing...
i tried SAFE MODE...it works fine...i left it for almost an hour and it was fine ...but it normal mode it restarts within seconds...
so i am guessing that this is neither a hardware nor a overheating issue..
so then what is the problem...
software...????
I have already tried a fresh install previously ... the problem comes back....
i tried to check the event viewer ...it says.."Event 41"...
i have cleared up my cabinet clean..
the fans are working smooth...
recently got a new graphic card....
no noise ...nothing..
but still it restarts...
what can be the reason...?????????????????????????????
Any help..????

i am using a quad core intel processor with asus p5q pro and gts 250 grapich card.
the power supply is 600 watts.
i am using windows 7 64 bit edition.

Reply guys...!!!

First off I think I'd be inclined to boot into Windows 7's advanced boot options as this tutorial explains:

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/666-advanced-boot-options.html

From here you can choose various options such as repairing Windows, last known good configuration or disable restart on system failure.

If you're convinced it's a software problem you might want to consider a repair install.

http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html

If the problem doesn't occur in safe mode, you may have a driver problem so you might want to check which graphics driver you using. You could uninstall the driver then recheck what happens under a normal boot.

Did the problem occur before you replaced your graphics card?

Have you overclocked your computer?

Have you checked for dust and dirt?

Are you able to check your power supply current and voltage settings?

Are your motherboard components seated securely?

You're very welcome, we're here to help if we can. :)

You need an ammeter and voltmeter to check your power supply output.

If you or a friend hasn't got any fault-finding tools your local repair technician should be able to help.

If you are not in a position to check your power supply unit yourself you really need to get it checked out by your local repair shop.

As we're not certain what is causing the problem, it's just a case of a process of elimination.

If the power supply is OK we can then consider what else is causing the problem.

ok guys just to update to you all...
i finally got through the fresh install...
and the computer is running fine for now...
Here is what i did....
Cleared the CMOS and load default setup values in bios...
Then kept the case of my cabinet open so as to allow air flow ....
then tried a fresh install...and it works...
Now normal mode is also working...
Everything fine...
But i have not yet played any games or even installed them...
because i fear that was the culprit last time....
So i want to check my psu first and all the temperatures of the different components to be on the safer side...
System specs:
Intel quad core @2.83 ghz
Asus p5q pro
4 gb ram
600 w cooler master psu
gts 250 graphics card

system temperature 40 to 45 c which is fine i guess
cpu temperature 47 to 60 in normal case...but upto 70+ when cpu usage is very high...
Now this strikes me ...as 60 c is maximum limit temp...can this be the cause ....
the cpu voltage is fine ...1.04 to 1.22 V....

I have also done a mem test ...no errors...
i think my hard disk is also fine...
motherboard capacitors are finee too...
i brought a new graphics card...
Cpu is intel.....so i dnt think it can fail so soon...just been 2 and half years....

so i guess its my psu or overheating problem...??
What should i do verify these two..???

Then its maximum temperature is unknown. I am not familiar with the quad core CPU without a model number. X3360, Q9550, E5440, Q9505?

Max temperatures are: 77 C, 77 C, 72 C, 77 C respectively.

I had to search for all four processors instead of just one, and there is no guarantee that yours is among the four I found; you could have another processor than those listed... Please fill in your system specs following http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/180324-system-info-see-your-system-specs.html as a guide.
