Rate My Gaming Computer from 1 - 10?

I've been working hard and spent quite a bit of money on a practically new computer (mostly upgrades). I'm just concerned it's not up to par with the more hardcore gamers.

Hi,

It depends entirely on what sort of games you are playing - I wouldn't worry about being on par with hardcore gamers. As long as it works for you, and you are having fun, its fine.

Suggestions : Your PSU might be a bit underpowered. A SSD (though expensive) will bring significant speed to your system.

Higher-End Games such as Crysis 2 or Fallout 3. What power supply wattage would you recommend if you feel that my current one isn't enough?

Thanks for the replies. I went to the link and calculated my recommendation. It says 540W is recommended. Although, it's no absolutely accurate. I think my 570W will do just fine.

Although the download speed is fast, the wireless really knocks-off quite a bit though. $15 a month for my internet. Advantages of living downtown in a major city...

4/10 - but who cares what 'hard core gamers' use - as long as you are happy.

I think my 570W will do just fine.

It will - If it were a generic/yum-cha PSU, I'd be a little concerned, but Thermaltake is a pretty decent PSU brand.

Unless you are looking for that 100 Frames per Second to snob or purely for show off purposes, I think you have no problems.

A friend has crysis 2 already and he has the same rig I do and he is not having any problems with it.... enjoy your gaming!

No showing off intended. I previously had a GeForce 9800GT (1GB DDR3), it didn't run Crysis in the absolute highest detail possible, running on my resolution at least. In fact, my previous build actually never played games considering they always crashed my computer completely do to a failing motherboard which damaged by processor critically. I'm still putting this computer together and will be completed in about an hour or two.

My previous system (same computer without upgrades):
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit
Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.4GHz - Q6600
6GB RAM (DDR2)
640GB Hardrive @ 7200rpm
Foxconn Motherboard (DDR2)
NVIDIA 9800GT (1GB DDR3)
570W Power Supply (Thermaltake)

Vs. The one I have now. I think $470 was a good investment.

Be sure to add capacitor aging in the calculation. If you haven't done so it may be less than 540W.

Also, I am not so sure the lower end Thermaltakes actually can deliver what you need. I pulled one out of a build because it didn't cool very well under stress.

I have nearly the same system as yours (Dell). I think the Q6600 is a lame duck. But I run it with an SSD - that alleviates the problem a bit. My Vaio laptop with an i7 is faster (also with an SSD). If I were you, I would add a 60 or 90GB OCZ Vertex 2 or 3 for the OS (budget allowing).
