Ray Ozzie, the man brought in to fill Bill Gates' shoes is taking them off... Ray Ozzie is stepping down as Microsoft's chief software architect. The tall, silver-haired technologist had the task of articulating a broad vision for the company, one that encompassed everything from video games to spreadsheets. Microsoft said Ray Ozzie, 54, will help the company with the transition and retire on an unspecified date. The company does not plan to fill his job.
