Hey!
I have a big problem with my Black Widow Ultimate, and this is the problem I need help with:

Yesterday, I spilled tea all over my desk.
I saved everything, (I thought i saved my keyboard too, but apparently not.) but the keyboard started to malfunction right away, and most of the keys stopped responding.
The weird thing is that I only spilled a few drops on the numpad, the rest would have gone underneath it.

I searched the internet without luck, and found out I just had to clean up the mess that I thought would be under the keys.

After cleaning carefully underneath all of the keys, I plugged the USB back into my PC. It was completely black , none of the LED's worked. I looked after the keyboard manually in devices, since the computer didn't look for it.

The keyboard is now completely black, and won't connect.

I was wondering if I should open it up and clean all the components inside it?

As it is a 130 dollar keyboard, I don't won't to give up on it already.

HALP?!

PS: My native language is Norwegian, so I might have not have spelled everything correctly.. My bad.. :P

Even if the keyboard is under warranty the warranty will not typically cover self inflicted wounds. And if the keyboard does not work then what do you have to lose (that you have not already lost)?

I have spilled an entire mug of coffee on my keyboard. Taking it apart was very easy, and once inside there are very few removable parts. I carefully cleaned all, first with dry paper towels, then damp terrycloth rags, finishing up with some pure alcohol on tissue paper to remove any residual stickiness. I actually ran the entire top section w/keys under the tap to rinse and wash and patted it dry with a towel.

The key however was that I disconnected the keyboard immediately from the PC as soon as I finished swearing. Before any electrical damage could be done.

It is also very important to not try and use the keyboard again until it has had a good amount of time to dry out completely after cleaning it.

AS TVelblen pointed out, I too learned the hard way with a spillage. Luckily for me it was just a stock keyboard. So the moral to the story is; "Don't bring an liquids around the PC/work station area". No chance for me to spill anything at all now....lol.

Although it did give me a reason to upgrade to a high quality gaming keyboard...Logitech G510. But...and there is all ways the but....I had to explain to the wife the purpose of a $150 keyboard....go figure.

Well, I failed at that part.
It was after 10 min of drying the Tee up, that I realized the keyboard was spilled on.
But after a closer look, I figured i couldn't be so bad, as it only was a few drops on it, and cleaned it.

And something i found pretty weird.. :Why are there holes under some keys? is it on purpose, so that a few drops would kill it? D:

No. Probably some other function, helpful in manufacturing.

Take it apart, clean it, and lay it out to dry. Then reassemble it and see if it works.
