RC 1 Expiring

Hello,
RC1 64 bit is going down soon, purchased a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Intend on using the same hardware with bios updates etc, etc.
Anything that I need to consider or watch out for?

If you have already had the RC running all this time you should see a good clean install of the retail 7 go on without any problems to note. You should back things up in order to have a fresh primary to work with however.

Do a clean install. Yes it is a PITA, but you will have a far more stable machine. make sure you get any "odd" drivers before you install (especially network). Make a backup

Only thing is to strongly suggest you go for total fresh install - upgrades are possible though not sanctioned by Microsoft, or advised by the majority here.

The RC is bound to contain some debugging code to be left in an upgrade which is best done without for the long term stability of the system.

Windows Easy Transfer can ease the pain of a fresh install by saving all your program settings. Programs still need to be installed but IMO it's well worth it

Some have seen some grest results with the Easy Transfer tool there when going from RC to retail. But as you can see the consensus right from the start is to plan on an entriely fresh clean install of the retail 7.

With a new drive just added in lately that will need to be wiped entirely once moved into the new build inprogress here. The OS came before the new build unfortunately. But all data is already backed up on the two other storage drives that will accompany it. Last minute Easy Transfer for that still.

Thanx all,
Fully intended to do a clean install. Need to prepare SSD's with Sanitary Erase, update current SSD firmware and use latest mobos bios. Any other hints appreciated. Hardest thing will be remembering all the things to turn off, green lan etc, etc....

Let us know how it goes with the SSD install there. So far I'm still waiting to see if WD, Seagate, or another older brand starts coming out with them as well as seeing the capacities and "price tags" change! New always means expensive at first!
