Hello. With the 'new' flexibility of Windows 7, you can install Internet Explorer 9 Beta AND STILL HAVE Windows 8 installed AT THE SAME TIME??? Obviously, under regular or normal installation procedures, this cannot happen. IE8 is either blocked, upgraded or removed when IE9 is installed. But is there any other way, trick, or method to have them BOTH AT THE SAME TIME so you can select the version of IE you want to use???

sorry..i means for what you have to install another version of IE..i think the function is same for browser.

I think what ryo is asking is why do you want two versions of IE installed at one time. Unlike IE8, IE9 can be uninstalled, so I would try it out and if you don't like it, uninstall it.

If you install IE9 then uninstall the IE9 it reverts back to IE8. No new download needed.
Both designations do not appear on the system at the same time that I know of.

IE8 is part of the Win 7 system so is always there.
As IE5 was part of XP though you were probably showing IE7 installed.

Okay, I agree on the processes you mention on installing and uninstalling IE9.

IE9 Beta is still very buggy and there are features I like about IE8 not found in IE9. I know it is still in Beta and the final is yet to be released, but I still want to be able to use it along with IE8.

I am just interested in learning how to have both IE8 & IE9 installed at the same time.

Are you asking because you want to test your website, if you have one?

It may be possible using a VM or You could try Browser Sandbox - Run popular web browsers with no installs to sandbox the browser.

Depends on your situation. It may be easier to just install on a second machine as IE9beta can cause problems reverting back to IE8.

Yes, you are reading me correctly.

Anything to watch out for using IE9 in VM?

As I am not proficient in using VM I would hope another member could guide you better than me in that respect.

I would make sure my machine would be healthy, and robust enough to handle the extra requirements of running VM.

Oh, while I am at it. I like IE9, it is defintely cleaner and neater than IE8. IE9 looks alot like Opera or Google Chrome even more so. The downloads are more hidden now. I don't care for that. Right now, it is buggy and runs slow at times. I am told the new HTML5 could be an issue why. What I do not like is the tabs near the top are wedged to the right of the address/search bar. I do not like that especially if I have many windows open at once. I hear there are new advanced security options that have improved. It is getting high reviews. I like it, but I still like the search bar separate from the address bar like in IE8 & IE7. I like to have a reference for my searches. It is lost in IE9. Not good for me.

Personally I like FF, but I keep IE8 up to date for my DW.

Where she works still runs IE6 :shock:
