Solved Re-purposing an old hard drive

If you're interested in the process, it would be better to start with an image from the laptop.

This is really what my "experiment" was all about. I spent several days building a new system on this machine. The one I'm on now. It was running Vista and now it's running Windows 7. I wanted to see if I could save all that time I spent building the new W7 system, by simply restoring the image I build on the desktop (this machine) to my old laptop that was running Windows XP.

Sounds like it would be difficult and problematic at best. I'm pretty sure there are ways to build transportable Images, but it will be beyond my ability or interest.
