The title says it all, but helps with background. The '12 vintage Samsung (R580) laptop serves me well. I had allowed free upgrade from 7 to 10 when originally offered. After harddrive crash and replacement 2 years ago I was entirely unsuccessful getting 10 reinstalled.
After over a month I finally got it working properly only after complete reformat and entirely clean installation using the original 7 disc.
With news of 7 support ending I hope to 'retroactively qualify' for my 'documented previously accepted' upgrade to 10. For reference, I had tried to do the "free" upgrade again after the drive replacement, but that offer had expired by then. At least there will be a record of that particular laptop id having been upgraded previously.
Anyone else having gone through similar experience and attempt?
