I'm trying to look at a crash dump from a Win 7 X64 system. Keeps saying

Symbol file could not be found

The Symbol, path is correct and has the Win 7 X64 symbols in it(G:\Symbols\Win7X64):

Windows_Win7.7600.16385.090713-1255.X64FRE.Symbols.msi

downloaded from Download Windows Symbol Packages

Symbol search path is: G:\Symbols;G:\Symbols\Win7X64;G:\Symbols\WinXPSP3
Executable search path is:
*** ERROR: Symbol file could not be found. Defaulted to export symbols for ntkrnlmp.exe -
Windows 7 Kernel Version 7600 MP (2 procs) Free x64
Product: WinNt, suite: TerminalServer SingleUserTS Personal
Built by: 7600.16617.amd64fre.win7_gdr.100618-1621

What am I doing wrong?

Did you just download the 64bit symbols?

Is the symbol path listed like this in win db?
SRV*C:\symbols;*Symbol information

The MS server bit is important for missing symbols. If it isnt there or is wrong it will take a long time to debug even a single DMP.

Pm me if you need help

Ken

I have the 64bit and 32bit Win 7 and 32bit XPSP3 symbols.

Where is win db located? I don't see it in C:\Program Files\Debugging Tools for Windows (x64) or in the Symbol file directory. Nor can I find it in the debugger.

Edit: Win db = Windows Debugger, right? I'm a bit slow tonight. Still did not see any where to enter the SRV* info you gave.

Okey, I figured out what you meant. I changed the sym path to

G:\symbols;Symbol information

and it now works, no Symbol errors.

Thank you for the info.
