You can't mount or run XP from Win7. You'll have to get the USB flash stick to boot (not easy) or borrow an external CD drive to do the install.

Yeah i was guessing i couldnt thanks, was hoping i was wrong lol, is there any software anyone recomends to make the usb bootable? Ive tried loads?!

I have never been able to get XP installer to boot from USB flash stick, trying every method I could find.

Maybe someone else will know since it is supposed to be possible.

May I ask why you want to overwrite Win7 with an XPired OS? :geek: Just askin.

Yeah no problem, my windows 7 is running really slow, the netbook has only 1gb ram, xp was so much faster on it! :) Hopefully someone can help, i cant be bothered wasting money on an external cd drive thatll be used probably once lol

I bought one of these and find myself using it all the time for a lot of different things:

Newegg.com - VANTEC CB-ISATAU2 SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter

You should do your research first to see how well it works (or doesn't) in getting a spare internal DVD or CDROM drive to boot off one of these through your netbook.
Cheers, is this the same, as its much cheaper lol

3 in 1 USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE Serial ATA HDD Adapter Cable on eBay (end time 02-Feb-11 07:22:05 GMT)

Also yes im running windows 7 ultimate 32 bit, its the retail version so probably is full of crap lol ill have a look, ive just read that you cant boot xp from a usb though? Not sure if its true?

So you are trying to take windows XP SETUP files and format the HP mini note book so that you can completely erase 7 from it and install XP... If that is the case, then I can help you, but I just hope that you have a very good copy of Windows XP. All you need is a 2 GIG flash drive. XP is not that big, 650 at most if not modded.

Let me know and I will tell you how to do it, I don't want to write so much down without getting all the details.
